We are in a better place than we have been for a few seasons both on and off the pitch. Are we good enough to go up , dont think so. Old enough to have seen several Vale promotion sides and this isn't another one. Admittedly this league isn't fantastic but we dont have the goals in our side to take us up, Crewe do. Come the summer we need a 20 goal a season striker, we dont have one. Popey is entering the twilight of his career ( God bless him) where coming on for the last 20mins looks the future. However every club needs one of those but for me goals should be our focus come the Summer and where our budget should be targeted. Good thing is we wont be trying to sign 12 players. A mid table finish with 4 first team additions and the same number released /farmed out and next season looks promising.

Clark would be good, starting LB with the option of covering RB and frees up Crookes as CB cover.

 

Plenty of options cover-wise and definitely improves the squad.

In fairness to the poster Joe Davis arguably did something more impressive than Clark; he got signed from a League 1 club into Leicester's development squad.

Was convinced there was a good centre half in there and looked the part just before his move.

Aspin/Brown decided to play him at right back and things fell apart.

Clark is probably going to improve the squad.

Obviously a centre half with a modicum of mobility and a forward are then priorities for the last few days.

Yes I know but he was with us from youth days unlike Mitch who was at Villa first.

Joe Davis was picked up by a Premier League academy. He didn't go from one big club to another like Clark; he went from Vale to Leicester, which is fairly impressive.

Convinced there was a footballer in there (as did Leicester's scouts) but his career has fallen off a cliff. A shame.
