Jake Taylor

Recommended Posts

An exceptional young player who is improving each game. Looks to be really enjoying his football and I genuinely think this is the best place for him at the current time. I don't see the reason to disrupt him midway through the season even if he were able to join a League One team.

The first time my dad saw Walker on loan, he said "that lad's too good for this league" - he has supported Vale from the early 1950's and he still rates Walker as the best midfielder he's seen in a Vale shirt.

£12,000 I think the fee was. When you add that to the £15,000 Rudgie got Darren Beckford for - they must count as the steals of the century.

It's far too soon to put Jake Taylor anywhere near that category but I think if we could get him permanently he could be a really good player for us.

The first time I saw Ray Walker on loan for us at Torquay I couldn’t believe he was wearing a Vale shirt. I’d been introduced to Vale during the Gordon Lee years when the ball finished each game bruised and battered. He was a revelation.

As sure as night follows day, in today’s sentinel Phil Sproson has been talking about jake having interest from other league two clubs and also league one clubs.

I'd imagine Forest would, at the least, want a buy back clause and a percentage of any future transfer fees built into a deal. Vale must have some encouragement from the player as they are clearly pursuing this one. Taylor is obviously enjoying his time here. At best it's a 50/50 chance of it coming off as he will get other offers. I think the club are prepared to go as far as is reasonable to get it done so if we miss out I'd be sad rather than frustrated. I suspect if he does stay it will be the little things, like providing the loan car, that clinch it.

You are right JRC Jake will see us as a useful stepping stone and shop window as he still isn't the finished article  before moving on to better things. Hopefully with a Hughill like pay off for the Vale. Depends how Forest want to play it . They may want another loan deal so as if the progress continues he can rejoin them a better player and he is still their asset. Equally a portion of the Man City money may be a wise investment to purchase him.

Sproey said on RS that Vale had put in a written offer for Jake.

Hope we’ve moved on from the  two pints of shandy fee.😀

Yep I picked up on that to. Hope we can get him, give Forest any sell on % or whatever they want as it would be superb to watch him play in a Vale shirt week in week out 'til he moves onwards and upwards, he showed again yesterday what an excellent player he is and he is the quality of player who will get Vale into Lge 1 and beyond.

How he won the ball yesterday, controlled it and had the awarness to play an inch perfect weighted pass to Amoo in the lead up to Vale's goal  was sheer class, hope there were no scouts at VP yesterday.

I have much empathy for Scott Burgess who is a good prospect in his own right but being overshadowed by Taylor at the moment

I thought it was Gibbo who supplied the pass to Amoo.

No, it was Taylor.

I thought he was basically invisible yesterday but one moment of magic creates the goal. That's why we need him here long term.

It also depends how Taylor and Sproson want to play it too. They know he is in demand. They hold all the cards right now, especially if clubs in the league above are looking at him. There are lots of scouts at every game anyway so I’m pretty sure players like him, Smith and Gibbo are being watched.

Rumours on Twitter that it is a low six figure bid apparently which is true is a step up from a few grand out the infamous sweetie jar!

Hope we pull it off. Would be a further positive boost to see us competitive financially for a change at the club.

Remember the year when Alex Jones got poached, and then Grant and Alnwick went for sums of money that the club never saw?

Nice change this.

Forest want us to up our bid

Expected and guess at least we know what we need to get close to now to be successful.

I have faith we will likely improve our bid which is a change to previous regimes where we know that would be that.

Noticed the sentinel headline, but my I pad cannot find the page when I tried to open it up.

Before kick off today I wondered if he would play. The 'injured' excuse. Protecting assets while a deal is sorted. Do or die time I guess.

Rumour is he's going to Brentford. Good business for him if true, but it leaves us with a problem.
