Adam Crookes

Crookes and Monty are both OK for this level. Monty has the advantage of being quicker, his pace often makes up for his mistakes, and better going forward with the ball.  Also, Monty is (deceptively?) strong but on the down side some of his wayward passes leave me scratching my head.
I’d give him a slight edge but history says we’ll need Crookes before the end of the season.

Feel Crookes is better defensively but has a nose bleed once he crosses the half way line .
Not heard any news at all he's suddenly the forgotten man
Odd that he is a defender so you would expect him to be a better defender but defensively we have been stronger with Monty playing there.

I think that's a bit harsh. He's competent on the ball, but his crossing in the box is not to the level we require currently. It's something he needs to work on.
We're a better team (In my opinion) with Monty at LB. I was a big fan a couple of years back when Aspo had him playing there. It suited him playing deeper and coming on to the ball earlier than if he was in left-mid. He will at some point during the game have pinned the oppositions right-midfielder back and stopped them being effective. He may get beat like he did for Carlisle's goal the other day, but Crookes also has a mistake in his locker.
I remember when we signed Crookes that he was supposed to be a left-back/left-mid wasn't he? Is he that or a centre-back? I'm honest in thinking I don't know his best position. There's a player in there somewhere.
To be fair to crookes the standard of crossing in our team is generally woeful across the board. Monty looks like a pub player at times in that regard as does amoo!

Crookes is a young, inexperienced player who is at least capable of competence at this level.

He was making a few mistakes before he got injured so maybe a break out of the first team, and having to genuinely compete with an in-form Monty, will do him good.

We've seen how far Gibbons has come under Askey, Smith has improved, Worrall and Joyce look new players; no reason why Crookes can't show a similar improvement. Just needs time, patience, and backing.

just not good enough

This is probably a little harsh... he is learning his trade at LB, is young and will get better.

His performances may not be where they need to be to dislodge Monty... but to write him off with the stroke of a keyboard as "Just not good enough" feels too far.

Adam is a Centre Half having to play at left back.Left side of a back 3 could be his best position. Not really a favoured system used by JA,so not sure where he fits in.Potential. Is there though.

Good point, like with most players he may be exactly what a team out there is looking for, and the left side of a back three would suit his style better.

I have faith that he will continue to develop and the coaching team will be working with him on where he needs to develop.
