Local Cricket Pro’s

Recommended Posts

Scott Oliver always writes quite well on Cricinfo or Wisden and there is always a local angle.

Onto a more general point, the number of Pakistani pros in the North Staffs & South Cheshire League has always slightly baffled me. Most, if not all, can't play a full season as their first class season starts late August/early September. The cultural barrier is also surely an issue? Before playing in this league, the only club pros I ever saw were West Indians, Aussies or South Africans who were at their club all day every day helping out with the ground/coaching the juniors etc... then they would often be there all evening every evening too spending their wages!

I know that the vast majority of clubs do it and someone somewhere must have thought "are we getting value for money here?" then concluded that they are.
