Yes,but they've honoured the result of the election first and then moved on to try and win the next one.

You mean they have never opposed any Government business by voting against it  in Parliament, which world are you in?

We need to nail this myth about the independent press being equally split between right and left, and put it to bed once and for all.

A tiny handful of extremely wealthy people own over 80% of the press.

Lord Rothermere owns the Mail, avoids tax by living in France, and bankrolls the Tories. He also owns the Metro.

Murdoch owns the Times newspapers and the Sun, lives in the US, funds the Tories and is another who avoids UK tax.

Until very recently Desmond owned the most pro Tory & Brexit publication - the Express - but it's recently been bought by the Mirror group. It's stance has not changed. He's another tax avoider.

The Telegraph is owned by the billionaire Barclay brothers who avoid UK taxes by living in the Channel Islands on a private island and tax haven.

The London Evening Standard is owned by a Russian billionaire, ex-KGB, and supports the Tories.

The Financial Times supports the Tories and is owned by a Japanese group.

So, there are 10-11 weekly papers, with a circulation of around 42 million (in print and on-line) that finance and support the Tory line in a very biased and aggressive manner.

On the other side you have the Independent, owned by the same Russian billionaires. It is perhaps more leftist than anything else but does include Tory articles and tries to maintain some neutrality.

The Guardian from Manchester is owned by a trust and a limited company. It is left wing.

The Mirror Group (inc. the People) is owned by Trinity PLC and is very left in its opinions, the only tabloid that is.

So, here we have 3-4 papers, with a combined circulation of around 14 million, who support the Labour Party.

Lesson 1. Clearly the press isn't independent nor free.

Lesson 2. Don't believe everything you read.

Lesson 3. There is an overwhelming bias in the press for the Tories.

Here endeth the lesson. Glad to be of assistance.

Rothermere also has a 25% share in the Evening Standard, a mysterious Saudi has a 30% share in the Independent (Likely to be a royal?)  Not that it makes a lot of difference to the theme of the post.

If you condemn racism then surely you agree Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson are racist?

I see what you did there, but we are talking about Corbyn and the overwhelming evidence that antisemitism is rife in his party. Why dont you condemn that first before we change the subject?

Corbyn certainly got a rough ride from Tory Brexiteer Andrew Neil who must have flown in from his French chateau to do the interview.

I look forward to seeing his questions to BJ and how he responds.

I don't see any reason why Corbyn could not have said "sorry" as he has already done so several times as Ginge notes but for some reason he can get very stubborn when cornered. Maybe he thinks such an apology is a tacit admittance of guilt. I don't know. But apologising again would not have done any harm.

He didn't come across very well but at least managed to keep calm and collected for the most part.

Sturgeon had an equally bad time of it last night but you can't say that either of them came out if it smelling of roses. I wasn't impressed.

The forthcoming grilling of Johnson will be dynamite. He can't keep calm at all, doesn't know his brief and I imagine CCO are ******** themselves at the thought of it.

Swinson will be the same. The Lib Dems chose the wrong leader.
