Spell checker

Recommended Posts

I've just made a post that included the words 'criticise' and 'rumour' and wondered why they were red underlined as not recognised (that's another red underline) by the spell checker.

I hope my spelling is good enough that I know when a word is misspelt and when not. I'm guessing that the site is using an American English dictionary and wonder if it can be changed? I've added the above to the dictionary by right clicking on the underlined word and selecting 'add to dictionary' but I don't know if that's permanent or indeed confined to this machine. Can you enlighten me please Rob?

The answer to that this forum doesn't actually have a spell checker. The red underlined words are coming from your browser's built-in spellchecker. They will appear on all website forms not just this site.

You need to make sure your browser language is set to English (UK) not American English.

Probably the easiest way is to do a Google search for (as an example): "chrome browser english uk spell check"
