Taylor can play at LB says so himself, can’t be no worse than Crookes put it that way

I didn’t know he’d said that.

I sadly can’t see us getting anything out of the Bradford or Crewe games so the Oldham match is crucial. If we are playing one upfront it’s time Archer was given a game. I’d keep Atkinson at right back as he is more considerate with the ball than Gibbo. Crookes is lacking confidence. Out of position quite often and distribution poor. Amoo was clearly on holiday. Either Browne or Worrall out there for me. We need the midfield to support the forward line. There was times in the second half Worrall was bombing up the wing with no options open to him. I would keep Joyce in as the back four need support and, with the exception of Atkinson, can’t pass.

I think Gibbo was doing fine til the Macclesfield game. One of the better players so far.  But at the moment it’s like Askey isn’t sure what to go with in terms of personnel and formation and is straying  from what made us look decent for most of the season. This last 3 games have veered between rubbish and ordinary. He’s in danger of unravelling it himself with his team selections and formation IMO.

How can you blame Smurthwaite for poor tactics and team-selection?

If you look at the comment I'm replying to, you can see I'm responding to an un-intelligent comment that Carol & Kevin's "honeymoon is over" and that it's "time for them to deliver".

All summer I was crying out for us to sign a left back. No one agreed.

"Lloyd can play there"

"Monty can fill in"

"Campbell-Gordon is ready"

Crookes isn't a LB, I don't blame him for poor performances. I blame Askey for not signing a natural LB, and playing a CB there! Madness!

Round pegs, round holes.

I was of the same opinion all Summer (in fact, for the last few months of last season too). I think that you and me were about the only ones saying it.

The concern is, I don't think that Askey will bring in a left-back in January either - only recently he stated that Crookes has had a steady start to the season. He seems completely blind to Crookes's deficiencies as left-back.

I just hope that if Campbell-Gordon is as good as he seems to be rated, he breaks through into the first team soon to replace Crookes.

Something that our recent managers keep doing. Makes no sense.
