Probably a reasonable progression from Mac where he did a good job under difficult circumstances. A few ex footballers have landed jobs towards the top of the football pyramid , a lot haven't. Vast majority start in non league, perhaps Sol ought to look at his glass being  I/2 full in that Mac are a League 2 side. Do well at Southend and a Championship side would be a possibility. Dont know the guy but is he Chairman friendly or a prickly character ?
