Mansfield were one of the scummiest sides I’ve seen for a while. That No 6 Bishop was doing his very best to get Vale players booked with his dramatic falling about.

I've seen other sides with Bishop in act exactly the same - I reckon he's a massive influencing factor for it.

He was the same with Scunthorpe. He seems to revel in acting the pantomime villain - gesticulating to opposition fans, arguing and pointing at opposition players (Gibbons today). I bet he does it every game that he plays. If so, I'm amazed that he's not been chinned by either an opposition player or supporter. Funniest thing today was him making gestures and gobbing off at his own team-mates when Smith's equaliser went in.

An utter tvvat of a player!

That was pretty poor fare but we got a point.....suppose you have to take that. They were a horrible team to watch but probably deserved to just about win the game because we were so bad. We looked lethargic and not like the team that has played so far this season. I've hated this Lloyd bashing but he looked like a lad who had won a competition to play one game of pro football. The "pass" he gave Popey on a break was embarrassing. We looked lightweight in midfield playing 4 and the "snap" of the high press goes when Tom plays, I'm afraid. I realise the difference when the ball gets played up to him it usually sticks but  he has to be an impact sub nowadays. (Having said that his <ovf censored> to the far post for Cullen's goal was sublime.)

Unsure about Cullen, I have to admit, from what I saw today but we were overrun in midfield and it made for difficult watching. Still, I suppose with all the missing players to come back today's point might be a good un'

No consistency you have to ask yourself where this 'Lethargic' comes from when you are getting paid good money every week

The high press game can’t work when we play 4-4-2 though because that formation just doesn’t lend itself to that style of play. It’s different when it’s 4-3-3 and there are 2 other players to the right and left of the lone striker. I thought pope had a good game, his ability to hold the ball up, bring others in and win the ball is second to none in our side. I’d start Pope in a 4-3-3 over Bennett any day.

For Me Cullen looks good when the ball is played to his feet too, i think that’s his strength and it was noticeable that when the full backs got the ball it was Cullen who was the one who came to feet to receive it. He’s a bit of a Fox in the box too and that showed in his goal.

I think the problem with today was the midfield and the formation we chose to play. They over ran us in the middle with 3 against 2. Injuries permitting I don’t think we’d have played that way otherwise.

I was totally confused by today.
I thought we played 433, with mobility and a press.
No such thing today, as the rather pedestrian Pope and Cullen are paired up front.
Felt very sorry for Taylor in a two man midfield.
Decent player, but dreadfully exposed and overrun.
Thank goodness for Worralls energy.
First half, we were continually opened up and well off the pace.
Second half, defended very well under heavy pressure.
Pope did what he does, very well. Set up the first goal.
But this was not what I thought we were getting under Askey and remain baffled.
I did say that having a range of styles is good.
Perhaps, with injuries, this seemed the best option.
Haven't read anything else yet, so might get some inkling from others.

It's not what Askey wanted either, however with a full compliment of players to choose from I'm sure you would have seen a different approach.

Absolutely agree about formation......don't understand this clamour for 442  with the squad we've got. I love Popey but I'm not convinced he's what we need in certain games.

The problem chiefly is midfield. Joyce does his best but is no Grant or Griffith and we lack a real physical presence in front of the back four.

And I know they do their best and give 100% effort but Lloyd and Taylor look short on quality and physicality. All our injuries caught up with us today and in the circumstances it was a good point.

We had no outlet. No fast winger. No Browne. No Amoo. No Monty. Add to that, no Oyeleke or Conlon and we're down to the bare bones.

I've seen all the back four play better so it was a real effort today to get a point against a time wasting and very professional outfit.

We need our injured players back. It's pointless criticising the strikers because they had no service except aimless long balls. The midfield is lightweight and non-existent. Pope did ok for me and created the first goal despite appalling service. Let's except the hard-won point and move on.
