Monty out due to concussion precautions, so likely to be Lloyd then?

Maybe although I think may Bennett on the left and Cullen or Pope in the middle is more likely on a small pitch. Worral wide right also an option.

Why is it that almost every team we play at this level is a team of giants? Grimsby have Hanson, yes, but a number of other tall lads too. I suppose we've had enough practice against lads like this in the past few weeks, what with Colchester's Nouble and Smith at the Cobblers. It's hard to defend corners and free kicks against these tall teams. Northampton and Salford scored from dead balls so we have to me on our mettle. It isn't easy.

Be interesting to see who replaces Monty. Maybe he will stick Bennett out wide and play Pope. That's a decent call, JRC. Or does he play Lloyd? A few options. Pope's height might be handy.

A good big un is better than a good little un was always said, since about a 1\3 of goals come from set pieces it has a logic to it. More difficult for Vale to defend set pieces without Pope, we have to go for 2 or 3 goals in a game. Low crosses from swift attacks take away the tall advantage, especially as some of the giants are ponderous.

Ernie will be head butting his keyboard and crying like a baby

Lloyd starts

It will be interesting to see how he does in a starting berth. He played well at Salford but looked way off the pace in the FGR game

Hopefully he is played in his preferred midfield role rather than the wing, and push wozza out there

Whats the betting that Ed case Ern will be sitting with keyboard powered up, ready to slag off Lloyd  and Askey , if we don't get a result.
