Just on the train back and reflecting on what seems like 2 points dropped. We were very close to winning that and have something to build on. If we could add a creative midfielder, we will be more than comfortable this season. If Salford are promotion contenders, then they must have had an off day, and like Northampton they were well trained in the darker side off the game.

Not a high quality game, lots of sloppy play from both sides and Vale will be rueing not being more clinical with the chances they had.

Getting the right balance with the midfield three is becoming a big headache. Moving Worrall away from his best position to fill the gap left by Manny isn't the best solution. We need someone who can slot into the middle without having to shuffle the pack.

Also don't understand why people booed the Pope substitution.

Looking for a centre half and a striker when what we need is a creative midfielder!

I'm with you , on todays game Salford wont be promotion candidates but of course they'll probably change the team in January.

Would be interested to see the free kick incident again that led to their goal.

I'm not sure if referee Backhouse is the worst referee in the EFL or if he just hates Port Vale; his previous record with us is atrocious and today we struggled to get any sort of free kick out of him while so many soft decisions went against us.

I thought it was a good save from Neal.

Yeah to be fair he got down well! I just wish Bennett had put a bit more power behind it or lifted it slightly!

these are the fine margins we are talking about... it will click soon! Hopefully!

Oh no, not again! When will we ever learn not to switch-off? In the first 3 league matches we have now conceded goals twice on 45 mins + and today conceded in the 93rd minute!  What the F is going on with our concentration levels? Potentially 6 points droped already!  Okay, undefeated but where would we have been with a little concentration and 9 points instead of 3? Drives me potty that we can't see out a first half or the end of games!!

Must say I thought we were good in the second half and really had them rocking at one point. I thought they all put a shift in today but we just lack midfielders on occasions to get up with the front man. Great goal from Bennett and a good performances from Legge, Worrell and Popey. I think if we can maintain that second half performance we’ll be fine.

Worrall played well today. I think when the decision was made to sign Rhys Browne that effectively meant Worrall was also going to be cover for a midfield role as well as wide right. We currently effectively have 5 wide players in Amoo, Montano, Browne, Whitfield and Worrall. With the limitations in our budget I'm not that sure it would be that easy to sign a better creative player in that role than Worrall. Whether Browne or an extra midfield player was the right choice will probably only resolve itself once we've seen him play. I suspect if Whitfield does leave Askey may revisit his midfield options as Whitfield is clearly his 5th choice.
