Criticism of Arizona Republicans’ so-called “audit” of the state’s 2020 election results is growing and on Monday the Republican-dominated Maricopa County Board of Supervisors added its condemnation to the tin hat election review that is seeking to uncover some vast, conspiratorial fraud validating Donald Trump’s claims that he was robbed of the presidency. In response to outlandish Republican accusations that voter files were surreptitiously deleted (oooh) and fake ballots secretly imported (ahhhh), the board held a public meeting blasting the conspiracy-fueled, taxpayer-funded audit as a “sham” and a “con.” In a letter to the Republican leader of the state Senate, the county board officials, four of five of whom are Republicans, accuse the elected Republicans pushing the audit effort of being “only interested in feeding the various festering conspiracy theories that fuel the fundraising schemes of those pulling your strings.”

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/new-york-state-probe-trump-organization-is-now-criminal-attorney-general-2021-05-19/

The New York attorney general’s office said on Tuesday it has now opened a criminal investigation into former President Donald Trump’s company, going beyond what began as a civil probe.

Attorney General Letitia James has been investigating whether the Trump Organization falsely reported property values to secure loans and obtain economic and tax benefits.

"We have informed the Trump Organization that our investigation into the organization is no longer purely civil in nature," Fabien Levy, a spokesman for the attorney general's office, said in a statement.

"We are now actively investigating the Trump Organization in a criminal capacity, along with the Manhattan DA," he said.

STOP. THE. PRESS

Ballots were shredded... fed to chickens. And then those chickens, just to be extra extra safe were incinerated!!

Idiots.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9591657/GOP-official-slams-claim-Arizona-ballots-eaten-chickens-killed-cover-up.html

Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, a GOPofficial who is in charge of maintaining files on the country's 2.6 million registered voters, blasted that claim.

'I mean, that chickens one is probably pretty top of the charts,' he told CNN.

Paul, this suggests that Fox has been one of the most watched channels for the last 20 years but has fallen in popularity since January.

The point is Fox was the only tv channel that would air stories about Joe Biden's and his families alleged dodgy dealings, virtually nothing was aired on all the left wing, Biden protecting tv channels eg CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, CNN etc.

You lefties thinking how to get labor back in Downing Street only have to look at how the Democrats smuggled Joe Biden into the White House!!!

Who, what?, I prefer the Golf Channel. I've seen some of their videos on Youtube but don't know if I have these channels or subscribe to them on tv. There are over 2000 odd channels on tv here and I would hazard a guess the majority of Americans prefer one of the myriad of sports channels or other stuff on offer.

May I deflect you to the USPGA starting tomorrow on the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island in South Carolina. Even if you don't like golf the camera shots will be spectacular as Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island, the Edisto River and the low country of SC are gorgeous, one of our fav holiday destinations. 🙂

Republicans now losing faith in the sham laughing stock of an audit.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/thehill.com/homenews/campaign/554806-republicans-lose-patience-with-arizona-election-audit%3famp

"We express our united view that your 'audit,' no matter what your intentions were in the beginning, has become a spectacle that is harming all of us. Our state has become a laughingstock. Worse, this 'audit' is encouraging our citizens to distrust elections, which weakens our democratic republic," the supervisors wrote.

Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer (R), who won the job overseeing county elections in November, called the auditor's false claims "unhinged."

"We can't indulge these insane lies any longer. As a party. As a state. As a country," Richer wrote on Twitter, citing Trump's statements.

Fascinating read about how much of a <ovf censored> show this "Audit" is.

Newest question is who is actually paying for it....., "secret" donors is the official answer.

I have no doubt already that the company run by the Trump supporting conspiracy theorist will declare that they believe their is serious questions over the result. They will not release the details.

Those Trump supporters on here will come back and say "See I told you there was an issue"

Those not part of the Trump cult will simply smile and point out that this audit is a sham. I will use this post myself as a response.

It only serves to further anger those that already believe anything Trump says... they will also hope to capture a few wavering individuals.

Question is whether they will lose some GOP members who can see through this.

On the "Audit":

Hey lads... how can we make this even more biased?

errrrrr... how about we use volunteers rather than paid professionals to do the auditing.

That's good, but I'm looking for more.

errrrr.... How about we get a known Trump loyalist to set up a company that does the background checks and volunteer agreements an let him choose the volunteers

Brilliant.

Questions remain, new go unanswered

The Senate and Cyber Ninjas for weeks have refused to answer many questions about the audit, including how they are recruiting workers to count ballots.

The Arizona Republic obtained an email sent Thursday that shows a nonprofit started by former Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne is handling background checks, non-disclosure agreements and volunteer agreements of audit workers.

Byrne is an ardent supporter of former President Donald Trump who started Fund the Audit to raise money for the effort.

Julie Fisher, Bennett's assistant, sent the email to more than two dozen state and county Republican party officials. It revealed that the audit is now relying on volunteers to do the counting rather than paid staff and laid out the rules of a new vetting process for people who want to work at the audit.

Judge says Steve Bannon siphoned $1m from ‘build the wall’ campaign while dismissing indictment due to Trump pardon

When will MAGA Morons finally admit the whole point of Trumpism is to defraud rubes like them out of their money?

Quote

While Judge Torres granted his application, saying “dismissal of the indictment is the proper course” of former president’s pardon, but detailed his alleged role in the scheme.

She said “pardon implies guit,” quoting a New Jersey court from 1833.

“If there be no guilt, there is no ground for forgiveness. … A party is acquitted on the ground of innocence; he is pardoned through favour,” noted Judge Torres.

Quote

The judge wrote granting pardon: “Of course, ‘a pardon does not, standing alone, render [a defendant] innocent of the alleged . . . violation,” and noted that pardons do not “blot out probable cause of guilt.”

“To the contrary, from the country’s earliest days, courts, including the Supreme Court, have acknowledged that even if there is no formal admission of guilt, the issuance of a pardon may ‘carr[y] an imputation of guilt; acceptance a confession of it.”

Quote

The order also said that Mr Bannon paid a secret salary to Mr Kolfage from the campaign funds and used it for himself.

"Bannon, apart from using these funds to pay Kolfage’s secret salary, used ‘a substantial portion . . . for personal uses and expenses unrelated to We Build the Wall," the judge noted.

All the other three co-defendants in the case have not been issued pardons and they are preparing to stand trial in federal court. Mr Bannon still faces a New York state investigation after investigators opened a case following Mr Trump’s pardon.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/post-election-audits-are-normal-whats-happening-in-arizona-is-anything-but/

The day after the November 2020 election, the chairs of the Republican, Democratic, and Libertarian parties of Maricopa County, Arizona, initiated a routine but important process to safeguard our democracy: a post-election audit.

Per state law, after almost every countywide election in Arizona,1 a multiparty audit board must conduct a hand count of ballots from a sample of randomly selected voting precincts and compare them with the results from voting machines. The hand counts in Arizona’s most populous county, home to Phoenix, started the Saturday after the election and wrapped up two days later. Not a single discrepancy was found.

Six-plus months later, Maricopa County’s ballots are still being counted — but by another group entirely. For the past five weeks, workers from Cyber Ninjas, a small private cybersecurity company based in Sarasota, Florida, have gathered in an arena to re-recount all the ballots — nearly 2.1 million — at the behest of the state’s Republican senators. Auditors have reportedly scanned ballots with UV lights to look for secret watermarks that conspiracy theorists believe then-President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security placed on legitimate ballots to differentiate them from fraudulent ones; they’ve also inspected ballots for traces of bamboo to determine if they were imported from Asia. The process was supposed to be completed by May 14, but workers were unable to finish the count in time, so the state Senate has extended its lease at the arena through the end of June.

Audits and recounts are an essential part of our voting system, but what’s happening in Arizona isn’t. The state Senate that ordered the process is calling it an audit, and all the ballots are being recounted, but it’s not really an audit or a recount — it’s a partisan inquisition. Conducted by a company founded by an election-fraud conspiracy theorist and Trump supporter, the process is funded mostly by Trump loyalists and fails to meet any of the standards required for official recounts or audits by state law. The process indulges the fantasies of the most extreme political fringe while ignoring the fact that there is zero evidence of any election fraud to warrant such intense scrutiny. The result will almost certainly not be the greater transparency Republican state senators claim they seek. The review — and others like it — may instead further erode trust in our elections.

“This is not motivated by any kind of serious worry that something went wrong,” said Michael Kang, a law professor at Northwestern University and an expert in election law. “It seems to be prompted by political motivations because the earlier counts and checks didn’t produce the outcome that the legislators wanted.”
