Guardian article that Bristol City have decided not to kick the ball out for an injured player. Should the Vale adopt the same policy?

Well done Lee Johnson, I couldn’t agree more ! Lots of things cheese me off about the so called “modern game” but none more so than this !

My first gripe is when the crowd applaud the “sporting”  behaviour of this action. Yet these very same “sporting behaviour “players cheat their way through 90 minutes ! They claim corners which are clearly goal kicks, offsides when clearly onside etc etc. Then when the ball is given back to the team after the player has been treated, they very sportingly return the ball 75yds from where it was kicked out !

It’s not sporting behaviour. It’s crap.

I’ve long since been an advisory that If a player goes down injured by all means allow the trainer on, but let play continue whilst he receives treatment. This works perfectly well in Rugby League and I see no reason why the same wouldn’t apply to football.

If players are injured then they will get the treatment they require. If they’re not (which invariably they arn’t) then the rest of us can get on with watching the football rather  than staring aimlessly at some nancy in an alice band rolling around in “agony”

Bring it on Vale and follow Johnson’s lead !

Please !

I think its difficult..... a player rolling around crying because his sholace has undone and he cant tie it is one thing.... but a player who has swallowed his tongue, or his heart has stopped, or smashed his ankle.... is another..... at what point do you draw the line?

Perhaps the player kicking it out should get booked if it's a posers faint... Not a serious injury?

Serious injuries are quickly identified by the nearest player of either side and the ref called over to stop the game. Nothing is ever perfect but the  outright cheating has got to be reduced. For some teams it is their game plan.

I don't disagree mate..... some of the pantomime performances are amusing if you don't have a dog in the fight.

Especially Graham Westley teams!

If this was the attitude of all clubs then it would solve the problem.

It will be interesting to see if the Bristol City players themselves stick to this policy strictly if they are 1 0 up with five minutes remaining, are in possession of the ball and one of their own players gets an injury. A bit sceptical me.

There are not doing it  on the quiet, they are sticking their necks out, so in the spotlight, may even be fined by their manager for not obeying his orders. The cameras will be there. Back to the days of the Corinthians?
