Shaun Brisley confirmed on a one year deal

Another Macc Town reject? He did move to Peterborough for 300k from Macc and played in the Championship with them, so he might have something about him.

DO we only sign players that have a Macc connection? We'll be getting Danny Whittaker back next week.

Think it's a bit of a stretch to call him a reject. They flogged him to Peterborough when they were in the championship, and that was about 6 years ago

Shaun Brisley has played in the Championship and is a vastly experienced centre back six foot two still 29 and has to be considered as an upgrade on Rawlinson....needed another centre back and experience with a young back four so box ticked.

I'm not sure Notts see him as an upgrade, considering they binned him and replaced him with Rawlinson. Still we will see

Well I’m sure you don’t want us increasing the budget , spending what we don’t have

Versatility is the way

I’d probably prefer it if he hadn’t signed the likes of Kennedy burgess and the other full back who won’t ever see 90 minutes to be fair. And signed perhaps one quality player out the three who could play and make a difference. There’s no danger carol overspending.

Do we need another coach?

Another great tweet from D3D4 football showing a graph of Chances created vs Chances conceded.

We are in the quadrant labelled “Solid, Very creative”

Particularly interesting seen as a lack of creativity has been a mantra of some.

Anyone who says they cannot see the difference in our play this year vs last must be facing away from the pitch!!!

The games I've see we looked more like scoring that last season but it's still early doors.

I have to say, I have been unsure about the expected goals stat in the past. Since I've done a bit of research in to it, it seems like a very telling bit of information. Whilst subjective, people watching the games can see when someone has a proper chance compared to a 30 yarder that hit the corner flag. Trying to put that into a statistic is hard, but so far it's working out for us this season!

When did we last have a proper left back playing regularly? Was it Tyler Denton? Why do we seem to make do with using converted players there?

I think you may be right. Last time I saw him was against Colchester when he made an excellent run and crossed for the equaliser. Pity he left imho.

It's all the more noticeable to the likes of us who got used to the likes of Ron Wilson, Alan Tankard and Darren Hughes. Both Aspin and Askew seem to have little feeling for the position. Let's hope Campbell-Gordon comes good - nothing better than a true left back who can defend, make electrifying runs and get in a testing cross.
