I met my nephew for a drink today and he works for a company that did some work for Smurthwaite's Port Vale. They never got paid - Smurthwaite apparently denied even having heard of the company - so were pursuing the matter through the small claims court. At this stage, Norman sold the club so the company thought they'd have to write off the several thousand pounds owed to them. Then, out of the blue, Kevin Shanahan contacted them, stating that they wanted to put things right and even though it wasn't  their debt, they wanted to settle it as it was the right thing to do. My nephew went on to say that Kevin was one of the nicest, most decent people he'd ever dealt with. My nephew's a big Stoke fan too. Felt prouder of the club than I have in <ovf censored> years

This is how Professional People build a long lasting respectable reputation that people want to be associated with .

Went into the club shop yesterday with my misses and her little lad. Kevin was in there speaking to a few of the fans. He came over to us, introduced himself and thanked us for buying the tops. It was only a few minutes I was speaking to him but he came across a really lovely guy. Little things like this go a long way. Im sure it does with all vale fans

Correct. Our reputation was extremely damaged by the previous Walrus. I've heard of long standing traders who refused to deal with him and by extension us. Things are going to look a lot brighter all round now we have two genuine owners who can re-establish those relationships and business accounts. Look at the Autonet stuff with Ian Donaldson, he's tarting up bits of the ground for free now we have proper owners.

A small thing, but now for club  interviews there is a background of sponsors logos behind interviewees. Like other clubs have. Not just a whitewashed breeze block wall. Which made it look like they were being interviewed in an asylum... oh wait.

A new Media Suite has just been completed. The background you require is in there, Toyah. The room looks lovely with photographs around the wall, loads of sockets and a drinks facility.  I’m told by Gerard the Snapper that it’s actually bigger than the media suite at Wolves.

That was my point. It looks much better and professional now, under the lurv Walrus it looked ironically like an asylum.

We are on the up thanks to Kevin & Carol, in their short time they have repaired and restored some of the reputation of the club, it will be sometime before it is fully restored thanks to Mr Smurthwaite.

We are looking more professional off the pitch and hopefully with the correct facilities / staff at the club more professional on the pitch.

Hopefully some of you will have bird crap free seats too after the efforts in the summer including my goodself

Though we actually did the away end first which I wasn't going to query but felt slightly strange.

All the Lorne street was washed and approx a third of the railway. ( Up to a fortnight ago ) .

Also my seat was washed in the bycars !!

Cheers mate and all the other volunteers. Sterling job, much appreciated by all Valiants. However I think most of our time hopefully will be out of our seats cheering on the improved fare on the pitch!

I did ours with bleach when we were doing season ticket stickers. Trying to eradicate the last vestiges of the old regime!!
