Time Limited Topics

SFBT

Recommended Posts

I have noticed a trend for topics to start off well and deteriorate the longer they go on.

No surprise really, as it's hard to maintain focus over a lengthy period.

Maybe all threads could be limited in someway, either length of time, or number of posts.

So often, threads get taken down because they have degenerated, so this would formalise it and keep things fresh.

I think it's always healthy for forums to have shorter, more specific threads although sometimes when moderators close threads for going off topic, it curtails some interesting discussion that has developed organically from the initial subject. The 3 or 4 politics threads (with a new one due to be started any second now) are a bit of a sprawling mess although that's not surprising what with Brexit's overarching presence.

The Brexit thread has approaching a third of a million views and not one single person involved has changed their position on leaving the EU whatsoever.

But it has occupied the Govt for years, and it is the 2nd Brexit thread, do we need a 3rd? Guests/non-posters may have changed their minds?

That's not quite true... I have reassessed my view on the damage brexit will cause, politically and financially.... before bozo was made chief clown and since.

Personally I just find that it illustrates what a divisive subject it is. Which is fact. So what is the problem? If you don't want to read it then just don't. If others do.. it is their business surely. Speaking as someone who lives in Europe so knows a thing or two on the subject it has me tearing my hair out. So just ignore not ban.
