What is your favourite song and why

Sure we've had this before but there's not much in this forum so it doesn't really matter.

Mine is probably Don't Make Me Over by Dionne Warwick. It's a bit odd really as I rarely play it but it really reminds me of the birth of my little boy. It was quite a traumatic birth; my wife was in labour for almost 36 hours and lost a lot of blood and I hadn't had a cup of tea for ages. As soon as the baby was out, my wife was rushed off to surgery and I was left alone in a blood splattered room holding a 3 minute old baby. I hadn't got a clue what to do so just held him and for some reason started to quietly sing to him. The only song that came to mind was DMMO. I have no idea why; the lyrics aren't particularly apt and it's not like I'm a huge fan of hers but that's what happened and it's now my favourite song.

A few years back we went to see Bon Jovi at the old Wembley, one of the supporting acts was Van Halen, since then, jump by Van Halen is one of my favourite songs, it’s even my ring tone on my phone.

Vincent by Don Mclean, saw him sing it at Vic Hall many ,many years ago. You could have heard a pin drop, made the hairs on my arms stand on end. Always knew it was about Van Gogh but never realised there is actually a painting called Starry Night by Van Gogh. Was in New York a month ago and saw it in a gallery there. Completed the circle.

I was probably in my mid twenties before I discovered “blue’s” How could I live so long without discovering blue’s ?

I loved all the “my baby just left me” & “my little ole dowg had died” lyrics and all that wonderful guitar work.

My favourite has to be “Dust My Broom” by Elmore James. So much so that it is the “most played” on the jukebox in several of my locals ! Closely followed by Muddy Waters’ “Hoochie Coochie Man” !

Wow !
