Gesturing is an offence? Really?

Of course..... it may offend someone..... somewhere..... we can't have people with hurt feelings..... and it gives the police a reason to arrest or detain, find out your information and log it...... welcome to state control.

They don't though, do they.

Not quite but take a gander at these , all from The Sentinel last week.

So in the eyes of the law somebody sticking two fingers up and shouting come on is as bad as those two people?

As said previously by numerous, the law is a joke, absolute no comparison between the crimes yet humungous fines and more community punishment.

Basically a football fan is seen as a leper of society.

PS None of my comments condone behaviour, but in comparison there can be no doubt stabbing someone or wielding a knife is far worse than opening a gate !!!!

About 112,000 offenders have been dealt with through community resolution orders each year since 2014, the BBC's Shared Data Unit found.

The orders represent about 3% of all crime outcomes, but there has been a slight decline in their use over that period.

From 2014 to 2018, they were issued for:

Some 2,500 sex offences including 27 rapes (Police forces said these disposals could relate to sexual activity between children including sexting)Some 5,000 for possession of weapons, including knives and gunsSome 156,000 for violent offences against the person including 1,720 for cruelty to childrenSome 151,000 for theft offences including 3,555 for burglaries and 309 for aggravated vehicle taking

So six per year, where the circumstances are not reported, so the perpetrators could have been mentally ill children or anything.

Sorry but these suspended sentences for gesturing might seem harsh but at the end of the day if they don't get found guilty of any other crimes for the next 12 months then they don't get any actual punishment. No sympathy for anyone who can't go a year without having to go to court.

Lot of cash and a lot of community hours

Banned from the footy

I'd see that as punishment

Without the stewards and the police it is clear from the film there would have been a big fight.

Mr H said "but they don't do they" I'm saying yes they do.

Community resolution orders = no criminal record of the offence against the offender.

Would have? Might have? Could have?

So the police and stewards did what they are paid to do.... good..... what's that got to do with gesturing?

Would have.

The prevention of crime and maintenance of a law abiding society has a first line of defence - deterrence. It has a second line of defence - prevention, the stewarding and presence of the police in the background. It has a third line of defence, which is respond to the hopefully few incidents by arresting, charging and convicting. Because future deterrence is very important, the robust action at this game and through the courts is justified. It is designed to cause people to think before they misbehave and show the high standards of behaviour expected.

This is no different from starting a new job and on the first day HR showing you the employer's code of conduct.

So who decides a future event..... in.... would happen?

The police?...... that's dangerous.

Your analogy is incorrect...... way off

Probably harsh in relative terms but I’m glad these sentences have been handed out, these people are irritating in the extreme to me. Is there no more imaginative way to create an atmosphere than winker signs to opposition fans and various intensifications of same? Also, can we have some newer, more imaginative, funnier chants?
