Just a case of dotting the i's and crossing the t's after a bit of negotiating.

Personally I'm pleased as I have enjoyed the football far more .

Did well with a pile of tripe so now looks set to have the chance to implement his ideas.

Good luck John assuming you sign the contract

Cash is king, but given his personal and emotional connections to the Potteries area in general and Vale in particular I'd expect him to stay.

He would be in at the beginning of something new and potentially exciting. I don't see him turning that down.

Here's one for you..........When was the last time we had a new manager at the Vale that was not A. promoted from within, or B. an ex player/manager?

It is stretching it a bit to suggest he is promoted from within.

He was at the helm on a short term contract having been out of work since Shrewsbury sacked him.

I know his dad was in the 54 side but it isn't quite the same as previous jobs for the boys.

Good luck to the bloke.

His agent re-tweeted great day at Port Vale. Looks positive.

Let's hope it's done & dusted quickly--we need to move on sharpish with squad planning.

True, although existing player contracts don't end until 30th June, so in theory we've got until then to get the players we want. Then again, if others come in for them before then we'd end up having to gazump the other club to put pen to paper, so it's worthwhile getting in early.

Think you,ll find the club have 2 weeks after the end of the season to offer a new contract or release players.

This gives players time to get fixed up and start their new contracts after 30 June.

They can sign pre contract deals with other clubs before end of June.
