True, up you have to be able to compete physically. Tosh could, Turner and Lloyd couldn’t.

 

Despite not being the biggest centre half Smith can fight his corner. That’s why he has made the successful jump from youth/reserve to first team regular.

Personally I liked Turner, and his record of 3 goals from 4 starts backs up my opinion.

Anyway, if he’s been released it’s bye the bye, we move on.

If you the youth players are consistently failing to make the transition from youth football to the first team , then surely someone should look at a different pathway for them to make the transition.im certain the 3 lads who have just been offered first year pro contracts will get nowhere near the first team in the next two years and that means losing more talented youngsters who were never correctly prepared for the professional game

I wasn't saying we should sign Ryan Lloyd again, just that he was match fit at Chester when we were short of players under Brown and had to be worth a look, it was outside the window so alternative players were limited. I thought Turner would have made a good squad player as he is on peanuts, is local and has not made any major howlers in his 7 starts and 27 sub appearances. Maybe we can do better but not necessarily for the same money. He has that rare ability to score goals which our current squad mostly lack.

Just to add, I was told by a very good source, that the players would be working on things all week in training, then, when it comes to a game, Turner would ignore all that and just do his own thing. That was why he never featured much.

I feel n my opinion it is correct to let him go but would also sympathise that 3 goals in 4 starts warranted a longer run especially as we have players given a chance whom were much worse in addition i'm sure he has been played out on the wing in some games.. strength can come with maturity and games our predicament meant he couldn't be shoe horned in (same as ryan boot who did ok but was too early and too much pressure for him at the time he was chucked in).

 

Hope he keeps going and uses this to springboard his career in a fresher environment but also thank him for his efforts think one of his goals gave us a 3-2 win away but would be my memory certainly valuable points.

All my optimism about the new era has been crushed by the news that Turner has been released.

 

He’s ****. What did he actually bring to the team? Nothing. Been here long enough under different managers and none of them played him. They played players like campion and Elliot over him, he’s clearly not very good at all.

Those 3 goals came in the 2017-18 season, he was only 19. Points to a steady development, 23 appearances that season including those 4 starts. You can twist stats however you want, he still scored more goals than Elliot, Harris and Quigley in their combined appearances.

He scored more goals a couple of seasons ago than other crap players. So we should keep him now? If you’re bar for judging a players ability is quigley then I really give up.

You say I twist the stats when people are only counting 4 games he’s played out of over 40.

We don't seem to treat our youth players very well, I still don't know why we released Ryan Lloyd when we were short of players under Brown. He seems to have done OK at Macclesfield since he left us.

 

Hasn’t featured recently in Sol Campbell’s

Miracle escape.Probably the only decision Baldrick Brown got right.

Turner will end up at somewhere like Kidsgrove.

Miller and Gibbons will have been told to resign or be sacked so should only be paid until end of June.

Why not compare Turner with Messi as some people seem to think he is the new Messi.
