Who should we sign?

I don't think Conlons ability is in doubt , just he seems abit lightweight , loses the ball too easy or easily knocked off it .

Can be easily rectified with some gym work though.

Conlon is actually quite aggressive and will press and win the ball back and has played over 60 games in league 1 but is still a young player 22 last season and has just turned 23 improving all the time and must be considered a nailed on starter.....great left foot and an excellent first touch and all in all a good footballer hard working and mobile kinda the perfect Askey midfielder.

I'd agree he presses aggressively even if he's not the heaviest tackler. He does win plenty of balls.

Conlon actually looked as if he’d filled out a bit to me in the 3 friendlies I’ve seen.  He does have that bit of aggression in his game that’s for sure.

Conlon will prove to be a real find for us. He has an abundance of talent and willingness to get stuck in. He is talented and possess a cultured left foot. Watch him mature and I'm convinced he'll make a higher grade than us in years to come. I think there will be a few clubs eyeing him up this coming season.

Agreed. Comparing him with Hannant as was done on this thread earlier is ludicrous.

Thought it was an interesting read as it is an independent assessment of all the clubs involved. Good to have in one spot analysis of ins and outs at our opposition. Having said that tend to agree with other posters that we are a stronger team than last year so cant see us going down. As my Dad used to say he never met a poor bookie but hopefully on this occasion they have got it wrong.

Bet Victor have Crewe @ 8-1 to finish bottom 2 and Vale @ 12-1, so obviously he must lay the odds 😉

Anyway I predict a mid-table finish, hopefully an improved match day experience @ home. Then futher progression in seasons to come.

It’s not far off £2m that we’ve made from the FA Cup over the past two years and when you think that our turnover is about £2.2m then that’s not bad at all.

There are a load of players that have so much talent you can let them get away with unprofessionalism... a 1 assist in 10 games record means unfortunately Hannant is not one of them.

To an extent I agree with what you are saying, but Askey has made it clear he thinks the squad last year was unprofessional and it detracted from the teams performances. He has acted swiftly to correct it hence why Hannant has gone I suppose.

Look at Griff he used to terrify the opposition in the tunnel.

not sign inorder to sign old man Foley and wouldn't that result in a loss of goals in the team ?

Actually quite happy with Askey's work this summer and get Madison/Browne/Hurst signed and were done ready for the season.
