Come on this is really boring.  You don't agree with the guy. We get that. You have made this very clear.  Childish. And very boring.

I'm guessing Iron Curtain is trying to highlight the ACTUAL repetitive and boring nature of Ernies posts which do nothing but bring this forum down.
It makes me smile...

Lloyd is now and has been for the last four seasons at Chester and Macclesfield a centre midfielder usually left of a three....

Lloyd is no longer that youth team winger that Arsenal amongst others scouted back in the day....infact Lloyd has rolled the sleeves up and got stuck in being a mobile and hardworking midfield player that Askey seems to rate and trust.

The comparison with Hannant is usefull as both are  hard working and mobile only Hannant was a bit of a headless chicked

and lacked end product whereas Lloyd is more likely to get his head up and deliver a pass or cross....as mentioned above Lloyd has a good first touch and a good left foot and has a better skill set than Hannant and a higher football intellegence in terms of reading the game and following instructions.....and probably cost less than Hannant in wages.

Usefull,versatile,trusted sums it up.

I think the phrase football intelligence is an excellent one... one two fronts. 1) The general reading of the game and 2) knowing the managers system and how he wants to play.

I get the impression Hannant and Whitfield  have lots of skill and exciting attributes, which some fans love, but do they follow instruction and play the patterns that the rest of the team are working too!

Suggesting that the Lloyd deal was lined up when the retained list was revealed.

It's lovely, isn't it? Seasons come, seasons go and we still seemingly have 'fans' wanting new recruits to do badly. Wish Smurthwaite could have taken a few of our supporters with him when he <ovf censored> off.

I couldn’t agree more! Unfortunately in the obvious case I genuinely believe it’s only being done now as people have dug themselves a hole their ego can’t climb out of.

Intelligence is something you sadly lack with your childish cartoon pictures.

Obviously Sol Campbell didn’t recognise that when he released Lloyd.

I think the Hannant discussion is a good one when it comes to Lloyd.

1) Hannant’s end product was lacking and best displayed by the stat that he had the 2nd highest number of crosses in league 2 last year... and when you are aiming for Popey and we were the second lowest scorers... that says more about his delivery than Popey ability to head a ball.

63 games... 6 assists

2) Based on what I’m reading on here, Lloyd will actually be backup for Conlon in the left of the deeper midfield three. What he has done though is free up wages to sign an actual replacement in Amoo who has better pedigree and better stats!

As Carol and Kevin mentioned in their podcast, there are unfortunately a few negative people on social media that are not helping get behind the #newera that most people seem to be buying into.

Actually my problem with Lloyd is that Askey released Hannant and put Whitfield on the transfer list then signs Lloyd who isn’t rated by Sol Campbell to be offered a contract.Considering they haven’t got a pot to p@ss In you would have thought they would have kept any player willing to stay.

A bit of brainless decision by Askey especially when there are now players coming available who could play in the first team.

I think you'll find that Hannant and Whitfield were released/transfer listed for non footballing reasons.  Also, Macc had 16 players out of contract of whom only 6 were offered deals.  Among those released was Enoch Andoh, highly rated by many on here but not rated by Sol Campbell.  Perhaps Lloyd had indicated that he didn't want to stay at a club that failed to pay his wages?

Oh here we go again. Pope bashing already... Pope will be the first name on the team sheet under plan A. Who you going to put up top instead? Sorry, second. Brown first.
I actually agree with Karl mate, I don't think Pope will be first choice and will need to earn his place. Which tbf I haven't got a prob with as it would show we finally have options upfront

Seen a lot of people praising him after that game.

What was it that impressed you? Passing/tackling/dribbling?

I didn't go to the game so am just curious.

I just remember him as a skinny winger getting pushed off the ball a lot - men against boys at times. Assuming he's developed since then!

He went about his business well and didn't seem to give away possession much. Always looking to move the ball on and fast

Also it's interesting that Lloyd has gone to a higher club than he was playing at but Hannant hasn't.

Whoever starts upfront it’s nice to know we have options!

Thats the advantage of Askey going for Quality not Quantity and balancing the squad with some reliable backups like Lloyd and some more expensive options upfront like Cullen and Amoo!
