Who should we sign?

Scunthorpe wasn’t it ????

Anybody have any news on when we are making more signings , it’s all gone a bit quiet

Rumour mill has been in full flow, linking us to: Paris Cowan-Hall, David Amoo, Adam Crookes, Ryan Lloyd

Mitch Clarke is obviously on the radar but see's himself playing higher up the pyramid.

Carol tweeted the other day that her and Askey had had a good laugh looking at some of the rumours, as they were complete tosh.

Askey has already said he'll be patient, as demands for wages are at a premium at the present as the players are not desperate and are likely receiving interest from multiple clubs. Further on in the window, players get more desperate/keen to sign and wage demands decrease.

I will reiterate, as I do everyday on here; the signings are not going to blow people away. I'm not ITK but the sounds coming from the club from day 1 have been consistent. People expecting this one 'wow' signing to get people down to buy STs are unfortunately mistaken. It'll be fairly low-key, sensible signings. Salford signing Morris is indicative of what people seem to be hoping for, which is a wide margin from what they'll see. Salford are operating at a massive loss, which we aren't going to get involved with.

Apologies for the broken record.

We currently have 14 professionals (I think!), of which;

2 are transfer listed, and will probably depart

1 is Ricky Miller, and has probably departed

1 is a first year pro in Campbell-Gordon, and presumably will be loaned out to a local non-league side

Hornby will probably go, Manny might go. Trickett-Smith is unlikely to start featuring, from the 8th tier, straight away. That puts us at

I can't be bothered to work out the maths but the point is we are around a dozen players short. Rest assured, there will be a litany of signings.

Looking at the teams coming up from the conference and the ones relegated from league 1 , it looks a strong division this time round and recruitment is massive for us

I understand the cautious approach but we have to push the boat out in certain areas to entice fans back and make sure we are not looking over our shoulder again . I just hope we get it right for everyone’s sake

In addition to what's been said above, given the last two seasons Vale have just survived being relegated from the EFL so quality Lge 1/2 players will not be chomping at the bit to sign unless key signings can be lured by paying good salaries. Let's hope Askey can pick the players with the right chemistry to play together and form a good, solid team.

My point is that he was a nice guy but he was slightly out of his depth, hence the multiple yellow cards and the serious injury.

That’s a somewhat sweeping analogy.

In future I’ll have remember that accumulating yellow cards is, without exception, symptomatic of a player being out of his depth. As, it would seem, is sustaining a serious knee injury, rather than, as I remember it, just a freak accident as he went to clear the ball.

Hey ho, as I said, it’s all in the past now and hopefully we’ll see a new left back that lives up to expectation.

I wasn't making an analogy or a sweeping statement. Some players get yellow cards because they are aggressive but I think that in Kjells case he wasn't quite quick enough to get the ball sometimes which made him collect the player. Stretching to reach something may have also caused his injury. Fair play to him he did well but it was a massive ask really.

If anyone is mates with the group of gents who respond to all of Carol, the Official Vale account, and Unoffical Vale's tweets saying we need more big signings before they choose whether to buy a ticket, as they 'don't know what they'd be paying for yet', can you let them know

1. I think Carol is aware signings need to be made

2. The quality of signings will have a positive correlation with number of season tickets sold

3. Their logic is backwards

That would be much appreciated. The fact that these lads would often DM me telling me Black and Gold had ballsed up the entire process and we'd ruined the protest movement, with every big decision taken being a big mistake, and Norman wasn't going anywhere, is obviously unrelated

Absolute utter poppycock. He'd have been a regular last season with his legs tide together and blindfolded.
