rumours from cambridge fan i know that we are in for Paul Lewis, goalscoring midfielder, box to box. worked with Askey at Macc. believe he scored in the last couple of games of the season. the fans words were, “puts his foot in, gets up and down the pitch and likes to get in the box, just never been given a proper chance at Cambridge”

Guthrie at the much reviled Stevenage is a striker that I have been most impressed with this season. Big, strong, quick...… probably cost a fair wedge to get him?

One or two lads at Solihull got a few goals Yussuf and Hylton both late 20s. I'd imagine they'd be more in our price range than anyone at Salford or Fylde as I'd guess their better players will be on more money than we pay.

Askey made a good buy for Shrewsbury from the National league last season the black lad Okenbirhie(sp?) from Dagenham got 16 goals for them in the end so he certainly has his eye on the league. We shall see!

To get out of League 2 requires a team that has reasonable ability, particularly a goal scorer, but in the main a team that has more professionalism, discipline and structure than others at this level. That team makes fewer mistakes and reducing mistakes to a very low level can take a team a very long way. When we got promoted I thought Gillingham were an example of what I mean and why they won the league.

Has a good record in non league, but to be fair to Aspo the lad looked like a competition winner in the matches he did play for us.

When people suggest that we sign ex-players its normally ones that have done well for us in the past or/and have gone on to be good players at other clubs..........not one who did naff all in his previous time at Vale and has hardly set the world alight at lower levels since then.

 

Would be massively disappointed if Askey brings him back.
