Who should we sign?

If we can clear the decks to a degree it will mean that Askey can sign some of the players he wants, to fit his system.

And then we can properly judge his team.

 

It's always exciting to see who we sign in the summer and it should be doubly exciting this year.

 

First and foremost we MUST get 2-3 goalscorers here. We've failed to do that in the past 3 years and it's cost us dear. They have to be a priority even if it leaves us a body short elsewhere.

 

Inman was good at Crewe. Scored goals from midfield. He's the type we need.

you look at clubs like burton Accrington and now Newport if you can get a good small squad together you can do great things, with all money coming into the club staying in the club I'm really looking forward to see what players will come in, the buzz around the place as got to entice players to want to come to port vale

Jones career is probably down the Pan due to injury. The two Plymouth lads, no thanks.

But Matt Done I saw the other day and thought he’d be a great answer to our striker problem.

Then I checked his record and was amazed.

He’ll be 31 when the season kicks in and he’s scored 35 goals in around 350 games!

Wears his heart on his sleeve and has always been a pain in the @rse when playing for Crewe against us.

A lot of clubs are clearing the decks to cut their wage bill so it should be a buyers market.

Just greedy agents will be promising their players that they can fix them up at Man United.

Do we really need a reserve team playing as we are in Div 2.A larger squad means unhappy players not getting in the squad and paying more wages for a larger squad.

Give youth a chance using the youth squad to play friendliest against local teams.

I like what Askey said about loans. That he prefers not using it unless it's necessary.

That should mean, it's also the end of loaning youth players just for the hell of it, and to make up the numbers in the reserves.

I'd be much happier if we signed a couple of 6 foot+ players for our midfield - strong, can win it in the air and can physically dominate in midfield. At present we have Worrall, Joyce, Hannant, Conlon, Whitfield and we lack any height there... hence we have to play Kay at times.

Yes I like Jack Grimmer, but is it time for us to move away from signing ex players. I know Marc Richards is being talked about but age and injuries (goes missing Nov-Feb)would put me off.
