Losing a club like Notts County for Salford would be a travesty. Another Fleetwood type scenario (as are Fylde).

Someone different to play but the circus around Salford if they come up would be unbearable. Playing them first game of the season would be the worst as the press will be all over it like a rash.

Had to laugh at Adam Rooney - blazed his pen over the bar then went down pretending he was injured!!

I only read the headlines and goal updates, didn't see the game myself. I do hope that Fylde from the 2 left do go up, generally against my principles as I always wish the team finishing highest go up.

I take the point completely about old traditional former league clubs for whom many of us have a soft spot, especially if you've been to places like Wrexham, Hereford, Southport, Barrow and the like.

But we'd all kill for a multi-millionaire to bankroll us to the Championship or beyond, wouldn't we? I think we would.

Having seen the NL playoffs, and the lack of people in the stands, it just goes to prove a point:

you can buy your way up the leagues, but you can't buy support!

Salford is a novelty club. I was at a tour of Old Trafford the day after the Crewe game in April, and the Salford project, got mentioned many times. They think it's funny, because it's their former players having fun.

To Beckham, it's nothing more than the change in his pocket, to have a bit of fun.

But will they still back them, for real, if they get into the Championship? When they can't get by on 2-3 million a year, but have to spend 15-20 times that, to have real succes?

Point taken but it happens.

When I lived in Hereford they were a good Championship Club with McNeil, Price & Harvey, having good cup runs and sometimes getting 7-8k crowds. But now they've sunk like a stone and are light years away from the League. It's sad for me to see but it happens in football.

Not many teams keep their support if they drop down. Wrexham. County. Can't think of many more. Darlington and Scarboro have sunk. York as well.

Plenty of banter, Alex Jones not recovered from his injuries? Pity, he showed lots of promise.

It’s such a shame, he’s a decent finisher. We shipped him out on-loan to Cambridge United and by all accounts, he’s faired quite well.

I’m not sure whether he’s worth the risk in keeping him if another club comes in for him. We can’t afford to get it wrong again upfront. Our forwards are listed below, and apart from Eoin Doyle, we’re limited up top.

Eoin Doyle

Shay McCartan

Billy Clarke

Omari Patrick

Alex Jones

Dog ****.

Thanks, a risky job is a footballers life, some injuries wreck a career, hopefully not in this case.

I always rated Billy Clarke, rather more than I did Alex Jones. Shame if it's not working out for him.

To be fair, League Two is probably his level now. We sold him to Charlton 2 years ago for £100k - and it was great business. We welcomed him back in Jan because he loves the club and wanted to be back in the area. He might fair OK next season, wherever he is, but I doubt he’ll be a starter in what will be a serious promotion push for us.
