Match Thread - Port Vale v Macclesfield Town

Not a game that Askey expected when enjoying promotion last season with Macclesfield, mixed feelings no doubt but there is a job to be done. A run out for Calveley? Others worth a view without weakening the team. Brown worthy of a standing ovation for his input this season? Scores from Notts and the Cobblers vital for the visitors, fortunately not vital for us. Expecting a 2-2 draw.

You never know which Vale team will turn up at home and we seem so much more consistent away from Vale Park.

I've never seen us lose so many games at home in a season and I'll go for a 1-1.

No one’s seen us lose so many games at home in a season, it’s a club record.

Anyone feel like we should play a couple of the up and coming players from the start (Elliot, Calverley, Hornby, any of the promising U-21'S)?

We've got nothing to lose in the game, it would be good to give these lads a run and we want to keep Macc in the league. If we win it will do them the world of good, if we lose its good experience and we help keep Macc in the league.

I hope Macclesfield stay up but would be sad see Notts County go down.

Im not going the last game of the season ,when i used have a season ticket the last performance at home was usually non existent and a waste of my time and i used wonder whats the point of building up a game where generally the Vale players dont really apply themselves ive seen 0-5 v Walsall i couldnt believe what i was witnesssing yes Walsall had something play for but so did Vale (the fans there honour etc ).

Last season v Carlisle it was pathetic a 2-1 defeat and made my mind up for me to just go occassionally which i have done this season as it was a nothing performance .

We have lost loads of games at home this season turning in absolutely terrible displays at times.

I hope they play there hearts out for the fans who do go and because its only fair on Yeovil and Notts County .

If Macclesfield are to stay up they have to do it themselves which i hope they do but not at the expense of Vale and because change the record the Vale fans didnt stay give the players a clap last season as they didnt deserve to be lauded for a exceptionally crap seasons work and finishing by losing at home to Carlisle and then away 5-0 to Cambridge and sending Vale fans into out of season furious at what they witnessed .

Be nice to finish with a win at home, really want Macc to stay up though. Should be a tough game, interesting to see if we've got an on the beach mentality, or we've got players who want to fight to stay here next season. Heart says Vale win, head says Macc are going to want it more and they will get the points they need.

I thought the same at MK Dons but we had a go and didn't lie down and let them take the points.

But the omens aren't good are they? Last home match - which we've too often collapsed in like a pack of cards. An appalling home record, the worst in our history. And a team who are desperate for a result, though I think if they beat Cambridge in their last home game they'll probably be safe.

We should play our strongest XI and try and give the home fans something to shout about and wing them on their way over the summer. Don't continually let down the home supporters. Get on the front foot and play with a bit of pride and passion. It seems ages since we signed off with a good home win.

Well my self imposed ban, which was a protest against current owner has now come to end, unless there’s no change in ownership next season, then it’ll start again.

We should field our strongest team to be fair to other teams in the league. I understand that you can have an infinity for some clubs more than others.

Can you remember how wrong it was when Swindon played Hartlepool and both needed the point to get into the play offs, which affected us. Bookmakers wouldn’t take bets on the result and guess what, the match ended in a draw. Let’s not get labelled as a team that does that. I for one was pleased years later when Hartlepool lost their league status
