Renaming the away end at Vale Park.

Given the significant influence that Vale chairmen have had on our fortunes over the years, I think the least we can do is to make sure they are not forgotten.

 

With this in mind, I propose we rename the Hamil End the Smurthwaite Bell End.

 

Any thoughts? 😃

I've always promised that when I win the Euromillions, buy the Vale, and revamp the ground, we would have a John Rudge stand in honour of his service to the club. I always thought it should be the Railway Paddock, since the original logic for that name has gone, and it would be great for the players to run out of the tunnel and see Rudgie's name emblazoned across the stand opposite. I would also make sure the pies in the catering areas were hot in that stand, and get some of those beer dispensers that Tottenham have put in to their new gaff to limit the queueing. Perhaps open a micro brewery with Rudgie's Old Ale for sale on match days, with free cheese and bacon oatcakes with each pint. Then I remember I don't do the Euromillions lottery...but it's the thought that counts..

Serious point though - we ought to recognise our best manager in some way - shouldn't we?

I thought we missed a trick when he came back by not selling a Rudgey flat cap. A well-made one with the great man's name on it, done tastefully, would surely be a winner even now.
