Crazy, crazy the FA have got to do something, the difference between the haves and have nots is getting bigger...but as others have said danny mayor and jay shea would have them anyday but I bet they would cost a pretty penny..

How are these clubs going to survive through the close season without income.

Probably why Smurthwaite decided to leave.

Always seems strange you budget for a season then struggle over the lean months, why not pay the staff the same but over 9 months when the cash is around either they have to then budget or get an adviser to put the extra they earn in an account either way the club has paid the funds

Reported that Bury haven't paid last months wages, never understood how they can pay big salaries on their gates.

Owner took a huge gamble with their ground like 18 months ago maybe? That's why they started spending big, I did say on here in a Bury thread that it'd all end in tears, likely admin etc, looks like they could be heading into trouble now.

I talked to the former finance manager at Bury circa late 2017. They were running an untenable approach signing highly paid players formally played at a higher level not committed to the club etc. I guess Pope signing was an example of that and how it doesn't work out. So at some point sense has to be restored. The owners convert loans to shares and take the loss, or it blows up into administration / sale etc.

I think Macc is different. They are inherently a good non-league club similar to Accrington. But they have got themselves in the league a couple of times without having the fan base etc. So their struggle is inevitable unless they either become Accrington or accept downscale to non league semi pro etc.

I like Bury and don't want to see them come to harm. Macc is a good local derby if they can stay up - not at the expense of Port Vale of course.
