But don't discount the recent run without Tom Pope in the side. I would rather he score ten goals in the next twenty games and start as a sub for all those games. I think it is the best way forward that he stays a bit part player now otherwise we could end up falling backwards again. Might be wrong..
I'm sorry mate but you are wrong I feel. Yesterday on RS Ray Williams commented that Vale's style of play hasn't changed and that Tom holds the ball up better than anyone else at the club and he was 'bob on'

The sad thing is that if our idiot of an owner hadn't pushed Tom out of the club for two seasons he would probably been getting towards Wilf Kirkham's total by now and over the next couple of years could have topped it. That said he is a LEGEND and more poigiantly is our own LEGEND.

Yes, well done Popey, a true Vale legend. Now that he's got that 100th goal I think we'll see even more from him as he relaxes with the weight off his mind. Only 8 to go, I think, and he'll be in double figures for the season, yet again. A hat-trick against Crewe next Satdee would be a great start!

Thought he was already in double figures, wasn’t yesterday’s his 12th.

First touch on the pitch kills the ball into his feet

Second touch sees Worral making a run up the line passes a great ball over the fullback

Worral crosses and Montano goes over

Third touch goal

Congratulations Tom. A fantastic achievement.

If he wasn’t Tom Pope he would still be considered a club legend, given the amount of goals he’s scored and the importance of them (winning promotion, avoiding relegation etc).

However, given the fact he is born in Sneyd Green and is a die hard vale fan who would be in the stand if not on the pitch all means that, for me, he is classed as one of the true great icons of our club. Right up there with Rudge, Earle, Jones etc.

Bloody love that bloke.
