An absolute clusterfuck from England today and a much sooner plane home than anticipated. We have more than enough talent in the squad and should be making the semi's minimum, but when you're led by a Dinosaur who must have blagged his way into the job or be mates with those high up who make the decisions then it's just a bit of a joke. Who on earth would select Solanke and then Calvert-Lewin over Abraham? Why was Foden benched today to save his legs? Ridiculous. Why on earth didn't Reiss Nelson not kick a football in the two games England have played when after Foden he's arguably the biggest talent we have their? If Boothroyd is still in that job when he touches down back home then it's a disgace.

 

That said, it was individual mistakes at the back that lost them the game this evening just as it was the senior teams defeat against the Netherlands. Although Romania are decent and have a couple of very gifted young players, England are miles stronger and really should be beating them.

Quite true, although I think our biggest problem at under 21 level is the manager. Boothroyd is the equivalent of Liverpool having Iain Dowie in charge instead of Jurgen Klopp. As good a side as Liverpool are, they're not winning the Champions League with Dowie in charge. I think Southgate can be very naive tactically at times himself, hence why he's never managed a big club. He's just so likeable and has a positive vision which people buy into.
