Mr Smurthwaite's games begin........

Recommended Posts

Leeds United filed for administration with only a few days remaining in the 2006–07 season, which automatically triggered a 10-point penalty. This placed Leeds at the bottom of the table and relegated the club, but they were extremely likely to have been relegated anyway. By entering administration during the 2006–07 season, they hoped to avoid starting the 2007–08 season on −10 points. The following week, Boston United entered administration in the final minutes of a defeat to Wrexham which ensured they were relegated to the Football Conference, meaning they likewise avoided starting the following season on -10 points (though they would find themselves being double-relegated to the Conference North for unrelated reasons).[15] The Football League saw both cases as clubs trying to exploit a loophole, and changed the rules. From 2007–08, any club entering administration after the fourth Thursday in March would have their 10-point deduction suspended until the following season. If the club is relegated the points will be deducted from their tally at the start of next season. If the club stays up the 10 points will be taken off their final total.

That's from wiki, not sure if it's still the rule.

From EFL Website :

12.3.3

Subject to the provisions of Regulation 12.3.4 below, where the Club becomes subject to or suffers an Insolvency Event, or the Board impose a deduction in accordance with Regulation 12.3.2:

a)

during the Normal Playing Season but prior to 5.00pm on the fourth Thursday in March, the points deduction shall apply immediately;

b)

during the Normal Playing Season but after 5.00pm on the fourth Thursday in March, Regulation 12.3.4 shall apply; and

c)

outside the Normal Playing Season, the points deduction shall apply in respect of the following Season such that the Club starts that Season on minus 12 points (including in the National League if appropriate).

12.3.4

Where the circumstances set out in Regulation 12.3.3(b) apply and at the end of that Season, having regard to the number of championship points awarded (ignoring any potential deduction):

a)

the Club would be relegated in accordance with Regulation 10.1.2(b) or 7.7, the points deduction will apply in the next following Season (including in the National League if appropriate); or

b)

the Club would not be relegated as aforesaid, the points deduction will apply in that Season and Regulation 10.1.2(b) or 7.7 will then apply (if appropriate) following imposition of the points deduction.

so i think 12.3.3 c would apply - points deducted next season

If any psychotherapist or shrink was listening I'm sure they can evaluate his mind.

The bloke has clearly got severe issues.

He needs professional help as they are not the ramblings of a sane man.

As for ' I didn't start the fight ' agenda, no maybe not but you have lied lied and lied again.

This might get deleted but so what

NS you are complete utter scum and vermin, hopefully there is such a thing as karma and you will get your just desserts.

Totally an unhinged nasty piece of pond life

Ooh woe is my card again.... How the hell can the EFL & FA allow this to happen? He's only doing this out of spite.

Let him put the club into admin, allows a buyer to purchase the club for a reasonable price which well be two tenths of nothing. We can find a temporary home for few a seasons whilst we build a new one leaving the **** to rot at Vale Park. The only loser would be him.....

A new stadium would cost £10 million+

Even if he wanted £6 million for Vale Park then it would make business sense to buy it, or rent it off him if the rated weren't too extravagant.

This was sadly always destined to happen once he separated club and ground. Didn't take me much to see through the half arsed lies he came up to justify that decision.

Will not be surprised if he changes his tune AGAIN tomorrow, when he's sobered up and wiped the false tears from his eyes. What a sad rant from the man! I totally agree with you Jean, he came across as a very ill, disturbed individual who needs medical attention. P.S. Good bye Mr S. Port Vale WILL survive. You now just close the door, quietly behind you.

Sponsorships, grants, donations, community venture, business partnerships. Lots of ways to finance a new stadium. It’s needed

We need a new stadium anyway this one isn't fit for purpose. To build a multi-purpose site a ground for confercing, offices, flats, gym, university, community centre etc. investment would be generated from others.

Didn't someone try it a few years ago? Hold off administration until after the season ends in an attempt to get the deduction the following season.

I think the EFL would apply it this season.

Leeds did it. Boston did midway through a game when they were losing their last match of the season at Wrexham.

Current rule is third or fourth Thursday in March. If the points deduction relegates you then it gets taken that season but if you’re clear by enough points it carries over to the following season.

THe Owner said that Colin G would be in charge of sorting out a buyer in the next 5 weeks - BUT I would fully expect that the Owner will make this as difficult as possible to force the admin om the 5th May. Its his call at the end of the day not Colin G's

So thats it he is no more after 5th May.He must have been thinking about this and seriously looking into it for a while.During his blubbering spat on RS tonight he mentioned a few times about the crowd funding page set up.This page was only set up yesterday.

As it stands the fund has raised £3256. Is he really that bothered about £3256 when he says he is worth £130m?
