Less police on the streets - More violence, less police at football grounds - more violence, ??

It’s sad that violence is gradually creeping back in to football grounds. We should be looking forward to safe standing and not back at fences and football fans generally being regarded as hooligans. No one wants a return to the 70s and 80s troubles but these incidents are happening more and more.

Don’t like Villa at all but was absolutely delighted for him as a player. Did you see he was also attacked by a steward as he celebrated his goal? The steward was then led away by police.

That's the double done over Brum with Grealish scoring in both games.I bet the blue noses love him?😀

Twatted 🙄

Yeah, I as on the Bycars that night - his name was Ian Humphries I think, and he went over the wall to have a word with Peter Mellor in the Pompey goal, who had been giving some back to the Vale fans when they barracked him. He was the Fulham goalie in the cup final when West Ham beat them 2-0 a couple of years earlier - tall blond keeper reaching the end of his career. Funny the stuff you can remember.....Next week, there was a crossword clue in the club programme which went “He’s good over fences, but causes offences”. The answer was supposed to be Harvey Smith the show jumper of the V sign fame, but we all put Ian Humphries because it fit...

He wont be going many more football games for a while.

Love the stoke fans on the oatcake saying he should be banned for life games should be played behind closed doors typical Birmingham etc while forgetting they got on the pitch and tried to attack John McCarthy, they are a breed apart.

Also, a second fan tried to get on the pitch, but was that drunk he didn’t scale the fence as quickly as “Humph” By the time he got over the fence, the Old Bill had arrived and he was immediately led away ! Does anyone see Glyn Williams nowadays !

Paul Mitchell, who assaulted Grealish gets 14 weeks in prison, victim surcharge of £150 and £100 comp to Grealish.

Joke of a sentence when the maximum they could have given was 6 months in prison which still wasn’t nearly enough.

He’s unemployed, father of one with another on the way. Jeremy Kyle next for him to clear his debts.

Next step will be someone with a weapon or the way this country is going a stabbing of an official or a player.

This country is in a right old state.

If I was Grealish I’d make a big play of donating £100 fine to an abuse charity.

Magistrate Alison Fisher said: “We have listened carefully what was said in court today.

”This was an unprovoked assault on a footballer doing his job in front of 23,000 spectators and thousands watching on TV, including families.

“We note that you have taken responsibility for your actions. However, this type of behaviour is totally unacceptable.

”The sentence must act as a punishment and a deterrent to others in order to send a message to the public and fans and players like Mr Grealish who should be protected at all times.

”We have taken into account mitigation and family circumstances, however, we feel your actions deserve a prison term, one for 14 weeks.”

Mitchell has also been banned from attending any football match in UK for 10 years.

He had a look of relief on his face when the sentence came.

He could have faced up to six months in jail.

Remonstrated with Mellor but didn't hit him. Humph wasn't that sort of lad. If he had the consequences would have been pretty severe, even then when they treated pitch incursions as a bit of high spirits.
