Match Thread - Notts County v Port Vale

Pope isn't the problem. The way we use him is the problem. We need to use the wide players and get crosses into him and use our asset of one of the best headers of the ball in the division rather than reverting to hoofball which simply does not work.

There is a lot of wishful thinking and uninformed comments flying round. Given our position and the passion of our fans that is perfectly understandable. The comment above is perfectly correct. Tom is frustrated because the service he gets is poor. That shows in his reaction to team mates in games. He is also clearly not fully fit, and has not been for some time. Unfortunately Ricky Miller blew his chance of some games to show what he can do when Tom was out by his reckless tackle and sending off. There are no other alternatives to lead the line. Mark Harris does not convince me. Other teams double team Tom as they know they can and not be punished. Montano Whitfield Turner Worrall need to step up to the mark and provide support and present a threat. Turner will not get a chance though. For Sat i would take a risk and put Edser in and tell him to run hard from midfield to create a diversion and confuse County's game plan against us. Elliott on the bench to offer pace would also make the opposition think. Desperate measures I know but these are desperate times.

Before every remaining game, Askey should post up the list of potential home and away fixtures next season in the Vanarama , with predicted attendances included. Would that sink in though? Maybe not.

I don’t think players are as hungry for the game as they used to be. Twelve cup finals left and the madness is taking over me. UTV

They won't give a **** because most won't be here.

As a team we may not be playing too well, but I don’t believe for one minute that the players don’t give a **** about relegation. If we did go down, then some may be unable to get a move, it looks bad on their cvs and they will also be taking a pay cut. There’s nothing good about being relegated in any shape or form for a player.

Allegedly some Conference clubs pay better than Vale anyway, which may be one reason why they are demotivated.

If that’s really the case why don’t the **** poor excuse for ‘professionals’ and ply their trade in non-league? Who has earned their salary this season aside from Brown and possibly Gibbons on rare occasions. The rest should be exceptionally grateful they represent a league club, let alone one they are taking a portion of a top 10 budget from? Anyone aside from Brown that can be proud of their contribution this season?

Yes there are some clubs in there who pay more than just Vale too, Salford are the obvious one who do, there are clubs in that league who are really being bank rolled in an effort to get in to the league. Allegedly Daniels went for more money, which says a lot about the deals we offer to some players.
