He,s no improvement on Aspin.His negative team selections and negative tactics have cost us wins against dire teams like Morecombe.He carried on where Aspin left off playing the same players and expecting a different result.

His decision not to play Legge until now after desperation forced him to do it.Even Aspin May have won some of the last 4 matches which we have lost against teams below us.Can anyone actually see Amy improvement?

Aspin offered to resign weeks earlier. Mr Smurthwaite did not accept his offer. Probably affected his termination terms, plus maybe he was promised the mythical 400k?

 

There was no replacement plan in place. It ended up a disastrous, but cheap, Jan, yet again.

 

I don't think Aspin was any great shakes, but he kept us up last season. Better to be careful what you wish for.

 

There is one, and only one, common denominator behind the demise of PVFC.

 

The hijacking of RobF's site by Mr Smurthwaite apologistas and the new, who cares if we go out of the league brigade is a sad thing. I care, because we'll never get back in it. Mr Smurthwaite took over a debt free club on the up, and has turned it into a basket case club, rotten to the core and heading into oblivion.

 

And the buck stops there. No doubt his fan club will be swarming around with deflections and blaming anyone but their man, but that is how it is.

 

Probably many will be happy, but I quit this site, it has become unbearably spammed by the Anyone but Smurthwaite's Fault league.

I don't blame the manager. He applied for the job and got it, he didn't select himself, he wasn't interviewee and interviewer. Whether he should have got the job is another question but the answer doesn't lay with him.

He inhereted a squad of players at a time when it wasn't possible to change them, again the blame for that isn't his.

He does bare some responsibility for the team selection but if you have a group of seemingly incompetent footballers it matters little which ones you choose for the game because any combination will consist of incompetence.

If you factor in the circumstances we don't know about, we can only guess, it's an impossible position to be in. The choices he has are quite disturbing...

Play the same incompetents in the same positions/formation.

Play different incompetents in the same positions/formation.

Mix and match the incompetents and positions/formations.

Whichever he chooses he is left with incompetent players on the pitch.

It's all a deflection from the real problems... he is the easy target.

It's pointless blaming the players, they can do what they can do, no more, they won't turn into world beaters because we need them to, because we want them to. They are the second easy target to vent at.

It's a crap situation that has taken quite some time to get into, it didn't start this season or even last season, it's long term decline.

Life’s too short to hate mate, he was simply completely the wrong appointment, the last 5 have been.

 

The manager and the players owe the club and the fans enormously after that and other performances. Whether they will repay us remains to be seen but make no mistake if we don’t go down it will be because two other teams have done us a favour and not because of the manager and players who are simply not fit for purpose.

 

I’m not sure how you justify he’s trying to do his best for our club either, he’s a proven failure in league football and as some wag said a while ago seems to want us to switch places with his beloved Macc.

It's possible that they could but it's not the managers fault they don't... he can't make them and he only has incompetents to replace them.
