Ask Aspin!

Recommended Posts

As we must all know Neil Aspin didn’t take the managerial role at Vale Park to run us out of the football league. He want and believed, along with John Rudge, that he would turn our fortunes around.

Now that he is free from the owners shackles could we ask him what’s going on behind the scenes and shed some light on the distrustful way the club is being run!

Can anybody brave enough ask him? Radio Stoke, the sentinel?

I think Neil liked Smurfwaite. That was his downfall. At the AGM last year he sang his praises while happily sipping on a beer while Smurfwaite talked rot.

The most sensible thing Aspin could have done was not pander to Smurf. He became too subservient for too long and behaved more like his employee than a man managing a footballl club to get the best for it.

However in fairness to Neil, the club structure is a whole Smurfwaite show. It isn’t like he could play hardball and put pressure on Smurfwaite through any other means. We have no directors or any other means of putting pressure on the guy.

Blackpool did with Oyston via Belokon. Newcastle can with Ashley because they have other minor investors and other willin buyers if the price is lowered.

Vale??? Synetics might buy it for a couple of million if we pee off Smurfwaite enough but other than that...who?

If Aspin dished the dirt on Smurthwaite now (assuming he wanted to) he'd effectively make himself unemployable as no one would trust him to keep his thoughts to himself.

Maybe a few years down the line, when it no longer matters, but not yet.

Aspin doesn’t need to dish the dirt. NS’s dirt is being thoroughly investigated

Aspin never had a bad word to say about Smurthwaite. Either that or he was very good at holding his tongue.

They may have both been Yorkshiremen but Aspin had pretty much zero in common with Adams, in terms of candidness and in managerial ability.

Heresy. Aspin is not a Yorkshireman!
