He isn't a negative manager,he will make it work better than aspin imo,aspin used it for a defensive reason,askey will use it in a positive way...he likes an high energy midfield

 

I agree, one up front doesn't necessarily mean negative and defensive.

 

We had no build up play under Aspin, there was no plan on how to get the ball to the striker within range of the goal. If Askey can implement a plan for how we will pass the ball to the strikers so that they can have a shot at goal then we should be better straight away.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what he does Saturday. You’ve probably got Worrall, Whitfield and montano making claims to be on the bench. Howkins and at least one of the new midfielders too because IMO Crooks, Clark and Harris will start on Saturday.

Good to see Dan Turner scored, he should move ahead of Elliot in the pecking order if the new manager starts everyone with a clean slate.

Turner’s scored 3 in 7 first team starts, imo has to start at least till Pope’s back.

Can't see many changes from our last outing at Newport. As I said before, for me Howkins would make the team but Harris is decent and will play before Turner.

Can't see Turner starting Saturday, there is a big difference between a young inexperienced Morecambe reserves and a Cambridge side on Saturday.

Turner’s scored 3 in 7 first team starts, imo has to start at least till Pope’s back.

Turner will be lucky to make the bench on Saturday. He’s hardly played for months in a proper game, there’s no way he’s suddenly coming in from the cold to get a start.

Howkins must start over Rawlinson. The two centre mids did fine pushing forward and got stuck in.

Its probably too early to judge but the bit I saw of Harris just felt he would be another Vale striker who will run around but not strike. Really hope he proves me wrong and scores a hatful, someone needs to step up to the mark in Popes absence.

I don't think Turner should come straight into the fold after scoring two in the reserves, but I think he deserves a spot on the bench. Aspins Negative approach has probably halted his progress somewhat.

 

If I was Askey I'd be looking at the pacey forwards like Turner and Elliott and trying to coach them into wingers so that they can play on the front left or right of his favoured 4-3-3.
