And do you actually think, you would be allowed to bring such a banner into the ground?

And even if you got it in, the stewards would wrestle it down as fast as you could put it up...

It wouldn't be easy to take a flag off several people, and that would lead to aggro. Stewards do nothing anyway, and wouldn't get involved in any confrontation for the crap pay they are on.

As it happens, having lots of individuals holding up signs or cards is far more striking visually. This is the way to go.

It's a small point but the very use of the name"Smurf" hints at some tolerance and bizarre affection for the bloke.

It's Norman Smurthwaite, and it's a name that will be winced at for decades by Vale fans.

Totally agree. I ******* hate that stupid pet name.

I even hate people referring to him as Norman.

Christian name acknowledgement is for personal friends, or at best people you “get on” with. I would be amazed if ANYONE who contributes to these pages would fall into either category.

In fact, on that basis I would be even more surprised if anyone at all referred to him as Norman.

Knowing that lying twut, he’s probably even named Stan.

Not that I discount his every word of course.

Thats a good point made mate, maybe pillow case size or smaller with "Smurthwaite out" on them would be the way to go.

Even the red card waving would suffice during the game, its all visual and with the camera placement in the Lorne St, should be visable on the football show or club highlights.

Lay their hands on any banner I can take into grounds and there will be aggro! Do they actually inspect banners any way?

Smithie, I like your idea of signs or cards and again I repeat I'd be up to chipping in to the expense of these if required.

I quite like "SEASON TICKET? YOU CAN STICK IT! GET OUT NOW".... although he'd probably interpret it as a sign of support in his bizarre way.

Smithie, whilst I may empathise with what you wish to achieve. Can I suggest, particularly with todays news that Pope is going to be out of action for quite a while, that any protest is shelved until we have enough points to secure our football league status.

Yes lets have a clear and unmistakeable message during games but its a message of 110% support to the players on the pitch irrespective of their performance. They are going to need it and it will make a difference to their performance if they can play without fear of abuse.

Smurf would not give a damn about any protest. Money is the only way and with the transfer money still coming in will not be bothered either, as he will divert that away from Aspin and then blame the fans for not attending, so had to use it to keep the club afloat.

I am not a fan of Smurf now. He kept us afloat, but is now trying to sink us with his methods now. Who would want to buy our beloved club for the price Smurf is asking for? Who would be mad enough to is more the point.

I would agree with most of your post but wholly disagree that 'He has kept us afloat' --its the Vale supporters who have done this whilst the owner has lined his pockets with some small monies filtered down to the team.

Make no mistake he may hold the deeds but port vale is the Fans and its history something he cant control but keeps trying
