Match Thread - Port Vale v Shrewsbury Town

Unless Dior grabs his chances and puts in a 9/10 performance, he'll be dropped for the next game and consigned to the reserves for the rest of the season. It's really frustrating how Aspin operates with players outside his inner circle.

Favourites? Never😉

I'm not sure it's even a question of 'favourites'. Just his default position seems so ingrained that he only needs the slightest temptation to jetison any changes. Most managers are the same, where established players can do far less then those given a chance but it's so frustrating. Kanu in particular could have had a much better impact for us if he'd been given the time that other players had.

Or how some fans build players not in the team up to be much better than they are. Whole string of flops have been built up as better than they are by some fans.

I'm not even sure where hes going to fit in to our system (whatever that is). Pope is undroppable so Dior's got to play up top with him I would say, not out wide either which is where he got stuck last season.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the same side as the Lincoln game start tonight.

If you watch the videos of his goals this season quite a few came cutting in from wider positions. He's definitely not an out and out centreforward.

No I agree thats not his game, neither is being stuck out wide where he was last season in those few games for us where he was also expected to track back. I think he should be played off a front man like Pope or in 4-3-3 without the responsibility of having to come backwards.

He'll always have some responsibility for tracking back. Even in a 4 4 2 one of the front 2 drops back. But I agree with your premise that we need to see what he's like in a more forward position.

I mean when you are relying on the wide player to be constantly looking to cover their full back pushing on. I’m sure that he ended up getting switched to a more forward role in one of the games last season because he wasn’t tracking back on the left wing.
