We Need To Talk About Norman

Santa

Recommended Posts

Change the manager as often as you want, the last three appointments have been disastrous and the common denominator is the owner of the football club.

The football club needs root and branch reform from top to bottom and nothing will change as long as the man who runs the whole show remains an idiot.

Couldn’t agree more.

Reposting my post from the Aspin thread:

The fact of the matter is that Norman has continually grossly underinvested in the role of Manager of Port Vale football club.

Aspin is out of his depth and he by his own admission didn’t leave his NONE LEGUE job for the money as he isn’t on a good salary.

Norman will continue to syphon off any sporadic cash from the club and underinvest where he can to reduce his directors loan. He will do this until his loan stands at the actual value of the club (rather than his mental valuation based on what he has put in).

Then he will make a decision... if he feel he can keep syphoning off more cash by selling more youth team players or generating ‘none disclosure’ fees, then he will. If however he thinks the well is dry he will sell the club.

Then he will tell everyone who will listen “I never lose on a deal” and will look his family in the face and persuade them he did the right thing. The fact that he has destroyed an institution loved by thousands of people won’t even cross his mind.

Aspin should go.... But it will be like putting a plaster on gun shot wound.

Norman will still be in charge, and he still has ZERO idea on how to be a successful owner.

Norman is ruining this club.

All spot on sentiments from Santa and Curtain, as per.

Wasted on most of our fanbase. They daren't show dissatisfaction, they have to obligingly clap, cheer, and meekly support whoever currently is employed/owns Port Vale, as opposed to doing things for the best of Port Vale as an entity of itself.

Anyone with a modicum of sense will see that Norm is the problem with the club, not the 12 month managers who clearly aren't up to scratch, but they'll have a bit of a boo today, Aspin will go, Askey will come in, and I'll see you all again this time next year for the next instalment of "It isn't Norman's fault, he's backing the manager".

A great post, but really Aspin should be doing better.

Although you did get me thinking about the wider points.

Smurf has cut back on coaching staff, physios etc over the last few years and that will have a major impact on squad performance.

No manager can do any sort of successful job without decent support staff.

Yes Aspin may be out of his depth but I don't buy into this non-league manager because management in the lower leagues is basically the same.

The common denominator is SMURTHWAITE the man is a disaster. Remember this fool likened running a football club to a car franchise garage. How many more rookie managers is he going to ruin before he drives us out of the football league. I fear it will all be over for us in 5 months if major changes aren't forthcoming immediately.

SMUTHWAITE SACK NEIL ASPIN THE LET SOMEONE ELSE HAVE THE CLUB BECAUSE YOU HAVEN'T GOT AN F***ING CLUE. I'VE BEEN SAYING IT NOW FOR SEVERAL YEARS.

Vales best form last season came after Jon McCarthy was doing the fitness coaching.

We ALL know whilst the blue one is here Vale will do absolutely nowt. I agree wholeheartedly that Aspin is a very poor manager and is totally out of his depth, but as many state the cancer in the Club is the owner. He will not budge until some loony comes up with his barmy asking price. There are no loonies daft enough out there to pay his price. We are actually doomed, no matter who we may get as manager. We can rant, rave, threaten to boycott the Club, whatever but my feeling is we are shafted completely.
