We don’t pump it up because of a lack of options. It’s the managers stlye and always has been. Get it and smash it up to a big lad and see what breaks from there. If we signed two wingers they wouldn’t get a look in. Instead we’d continue to see centre mids stuck out wide where they blatantly can’t play. Wouldn’t surprise me if he signed another few centre backs to make us more ‘solid’

I personally don’t think there is that much wrong with the team. We are solid and very boring. The reason we are playing long balls is because when players look up they aren’t any options out wide so it ends up getting pumped straight down the middle.

 

2 new wingers who get there head down and run with the ball would really change this team. I know January is a hard time to get some players. But if there is any money to spend. We need wingers not centre midfields or strikers in my opinion.

 

IMHO, A winger or someone who can create would be very nice, we also need someone else who can score regularly besides Popey.

I take your point but I don't think it's possible to score regularly in this team. We just dont create the chances for anybody to get regular goals. I think it's testament to how good Popey is for us that he's scored 10 goals before Xmas. I suppose that's why although he doesn't do much apart from his goal return why Aspin plays Monty cause he is one of the only players in the squad aside from Pope that could get 10+ goals a season. We're in dire straights at the moment I'm afraid.

Popey is frustrated because he isn't getting the right sort of ball in the area. Feed the Pope and he will score. I do wonder if we practise crosses in training. If we do I can only assume Popey must sit in the Bycars tea bar because during matches that's where most seem to end up. Is it really that difficult to put a decent ball in the box on match day when you have had all week practising. I know we are League 2 but isn't that just called doing your job, its as basic as that surely.

I think the answer to you question is no. However I still can’t see why we can’t play with wingers, just don’t hit the crosses so hard.

aspin doesn't do wingers so expect another couple of centre halves who have been released by their clubs as useless joining the club in January..
