I personally don’t think there is that much wrong with the team. We are solid and very boring. The reason we are playing long balls is because when players look up they aren’t any options out wide so it ends up getting pumped straight down the middle.

 

2 new wingers who get there head down and run with the ball would really change this team. I know January is a hard time to get some players. But if there is any money to spend. We need wingers not centre midfields or strikers in my opinion.

In my opinion the only player you mentioned who can be described as a winger is montano who simply isn’t fit enough to play 46 games and get a run going.

The other players naturally drift in and don’t hug the touch line.

I was one of those that got very irritated with JMW but must admit though he could be selfish at times I would have him back in a heartbeat compared with the ones that we have who think a cross is what they have to keep dracula away!

We've got a massively wide pitch at Vale Park. It could be made wider.

We used to use it to our advantage years ago but every season it seems to be narrowed

Popey wins more high balls into the box than any other player.

Buy 2 wingers and widen the pitch i reckon

Talking about crosses there were about three or four good crosses came into the box second half one in particular in which Quigley did not react to at all about 5 yds out can i suggest to aspin to put Roy Sprosons statue in the six yard box it would be more effective.

We don’t pump it up because of a lack of options. It’s the managers stlye and always has been. Get it and smash it up to a big lad and see what breaks from there. If we signed two wingers they wouldn’t get a look in. Instead we’d continue to see centre mids stuck out wide where they blatantly can’t play. Wouldn’t surprise me if he signed another few centre backs to make us more ‘solid’
