Lorne Street Hamil Mystery

Can anyone shed any light on why and how we put several rows of seating in the Lorne St Hamil enclosure only to see the area out of bounds?

Did we get a grant? Did we start then get bored? Did we get offered them at cut price?

It just looks so odd from the Railway Stand and I'm curious to know why it is how it is.

It was confirmed in the Sentinel that we got the seats cheap off Watford FC when they renovated their stands.

Do a bit of work inside that area and that bit can be used for match days, home or away fans or family stand.

When you say a bit of work, I don't think there's any plumbing?

As for the seats from Watford, they're noticeable in the Bycars because they're the bright yellow ones instead of faded amber.

There’s plumbing in the Lorne st Bycars side, also up above in the corporate areas, it would be dead simple to get a feed into the Hamil side.

Are they less comfortable Santa?I remember going to Leeds and we were able to get a beer and a slash(in that order) when we were waiting for the buses. It used to be the shop?

Yes,those yellow ones do stand out.We should have perhaps got them from Cambridge United instead of Watford?

I can shed light on this.

I had a conversation with Norman Smurthwaite about this about 12 months ago (the seats were put in at the start of last season).

He told me - they were originally put in as plans for a new press section away from the seated part of the Lorne St (presumably to give them a better view without people walking in front of them) but (I think) due to logistics (presumably installing the ISDN points etc) it wasn't possible to move the press there and that's why the blocks of seats are in place but unused.

I do think the location of the current press block is another one of those odd decisions that Vale take. Who in their right mind would think that putting the press at the top of a shallow incline of seats with no segregation from fans was a good idea?

There is an article on the addition of the seats I did which is here - https://www.onevalefan.co.uk/2017/08/mini-gallery-changes-to-vale-park-for-the-2017-18-season/
