I can't believe it "people actually still read the sentinel"..

I have to bring one for Mrs H the days I work in Stoke or face the consequences.

Back on topic, now I've read what Martin had to say I think he was extremely misguided. Doesn't make him a bad person though.

That is of course unless you have had the misfortune to meet him personally.

If like myself you have, it will then have confirmed all pre- conceived conceptions of himself and also our city neighbours.

No issue with what Mr Smith has written, however misguided it may be. What I can’t understand is why the Sentinel thought it would be a good idea to publish.

So he's misguided and you can't understand why the Sentinel has published, yet you have no issue with what the bulbous bell has written.Try again.

Quite a few years ago I heard a strong rumour that a picture of the rotund Smith appeared in the Sentinel in a VALE shirt !

The story was that he was part of a tug of war team featured in a photo in the paper going back to the late 70’s/ early 80’s.

Wouldn’t it be interesting if any of our contributors could unearth this photo ?

In our meeting, he catagorically denied it. But as in the famous words of Mandy Rice Davies, “he would wouldn’t he”

As a matter of fact RR I have - it was some time ago, admittedly, and it was at one of those inter board pub meets that PVO and the Oatcake used to have. He came across to me as a generally decent chap really, the team he supports being an obvious exception, but like I said on another thread it doesn't make him a bad person though.

I don't know what contact you had with him, or the circumstances, to know why you took the attitude you have but I don't share it.
