Interesting article about Coleman and Bell, makes you wonder if we could have kept Bell...

Was having a good read(on my phone) but yet again the entire page hijacked by an advert. And I am constantly clicking(every time I scroll) on the accept cookie's banner.I appreciate ovf site has to self fund through adverts but pages are becoming unreadable.

That article is a great read thanks to Valiant 62 for highlighting it. Jimmy Bell effectively left us for a promotion when he went back to work with Coleman at Accrington. I heard at the time of Neil Aspin's appointment that Jimmy Bell was the preferred choice, not sure how true that is though. Anyway, I am very happy with the choice of our manager.

Back to the article, I find it particularly interesting to consider Accrington's finances in the light of Stoke's loss of £30 odd million, and Denise Coates' extraordinary pay packet of well over £200 Million for the year. There are 19 places between them in the pyramid system right now. So just over one and a half million per position.

Great job by Coleman and Bell, and I hope Accrington survive and prosper, apart from when they play the Vale that is.

I suppose it’s a wondering what would have happened if we had kept him, though I’m happy with Aspin in the main.

I guess when you look at the careers other in the Accy set up have had it really seems like Coleman is the talisman, though he’s had his off days elsewhere.

I too like Accy.

Super article, with plenty of stuff to make you think. I particularly liked the bit about how to handle transfers and maximise the amount you get (we always seem to concede to the first offer). I also liked Coleman's thoughts about managing and coaching players by emphasising the positives. Good, refreshing read in these days where money rules everything in football (well, at least too many things).

To me, tha Accrington success story shows the results that continuity can achieve. The pair are obviously comfortable there, but have also been allowed to get on with the job in hand.

Keith Hill, after a successful stint at Rochdale, left for Barnsley. Coleman left Accrington to replace him at Spotland. Both were relieved of their duties after a year or so as instant success did not follow.

Both had not become poor managers overnight, as was proved when returning to their former clubs.

Club owners need to support their chosen manager if any chance of relative success is likely to follow.

Over to you Mr. Smurfthwaite.

I think this is a very good comment, needs to be born in mind at some stage when we have four losses in a row!
