OMG don't know what is worst listening to Artell or the Yokel fans.

 

In a nutshell the problem for us is still the same season after season, we have to much quantity, not enough quality. If Gorm would spend, and if and it's a big if, we could ship out, Joyce, Hardcastle, Daniels, Davis,Dodds, and even Kanu or Quigley.

 

We have one loan player in the team what a waste.

Hannant hasn't got the attributes to play winger. He isn't quick enough and doesn't cause any real problems.

 

Drop Joyce or Hannant and play 4-3-3 with Miller/Worrall and Whitfield either side of Pope. Then you'd see some decent forward play. Pope and Whitfield totally isolated in that team today.

Another really disappointing away day, and on reflection Mansfield thoroughly deserved the three points. Yes, it needed a super strike to win it, but not only did they miss a couple of sitters, Brown as he has done so often also pulled of 3 or 4 class saves, one another worldy!

 

In comparison we created next to nothing, yes Whitfield and Pope never got into the game-at all, but for the umpteenth time this season,I refuse to even remotely criticise either as they were once again, and by these absurd tactics, feeding of the most meagre of scraps. The only comment I would add is that imo Whits is not a forward, he is a natural winger and out wide is where he spent a lot of the game which left Pope even more isolated than usual.

 

If we have any tactical aspiration beyond boring teams (and supporters) to death Aspo has to show a pair, swallow this 8,9 men behind the ball nonsense and at least try to win football matches. The fact that we only looked dangerous from Legges long throws (and he was also superb today) speaks volumes.

 

We surely have to bin this formation immediately. Yes, clearly we are letting in less goals because of it, but equally clearly it's not only stifling any possibility we have of attacking teams, worse,for any opposition it's quickly become all so predictably easy to defend against, and for that reason alone we have to change.

 

We have decent FB's at the club, but appears we are loathe to use them for fear of dropping one of our CH's. We have natural wide men in the squad but appear loathe to utilise them for fear of having to drop the bosses favourites, and I believe we have some very decent forwards but appear loathe to service them due to the bosses fear of allowing players to leave the safety of our own half.

Absolutely not. Mansfield were the better side and deserved to win but the game was ruined by an idiot referee who thought every tackle was a foul and a yellow card. Vale will get a £500 fine for that. Dodds was booked for his first challenge. Montano was booked for his first challenge yet a couple of nasty tackles by them went unpunished. Pope was getting mauled to death and got nowt.

 

The ref wasn’t the reason we lost but bloody hell, he was awful. It was the same bloke who missed that blatant handball in the Newport game. Where do they find these muppets?
