The Guardian: worth a read

I don't see what there is to complain about with this article - it is reasonably balanced and attempts the almost impossible task of covering enough material for a feature film and sequel in a few paragraphs.

I like the bit about the writer's daughter forcing him to take her away from a wet and frezzing cold horror show at Gillingham. I've seen far, far worse stuff written about Vale with horrific factual errors and total nonsense.

Good read, nothing there to carp about.

Steve is a Vale fan - used to work on the Sentinel many moons ago - still goes when he can - especially away games in the south east

Oh, and it's a blog - there's the clue - it's not supposed to be Tolstoy!

Has he got a sister with the same initial??

I would dispute that Grewy was the keeper in our finest ever team. Surely that was Mussy in the mid 90's?

Pretty much down to personal opinions, as Grew was here from just before the big push (just prior to late 80s Spurs game time) through to 1993 or so, and we had a fine team at that time, we also had a mark 2 version with Guppy and McCarthy added in the mid 90s.

I think Grew must be close to being our best ever keeper, along with a shout for Ken Hancock and Goodlad, Mussy for me never quite as consistent as those other 3 but still a great and loyal Vale player.

Mark Grew also made the best save I have ever seen in the 5th round home cup tie against Watford in 1988, has to be watched in slow motion - a second half piece of brilliance that earned a lucrative replay.

All excellent, but you may not have watched the King.

Ken Hancock in the FA Cup at Anfield, fantastic, also Cup against Cloughs Sunderland hobbling on one leg.
