2018 FA Cup - 1st Round - Sunderland at Vale Park

For Us All

Recommended Posts

Once again we fail to take the chance to address all our fans while they're in the ground and plug ticket sales for what is our biggest occasion since Aspo and Rudgey returned to the club.

No upbeat announcements urging people to turn out in numbers, no positive plug about the ticket prices, no effort to pick up post-match sales by keeping the ticket office open after the game.

Are the above not stark-staringly obvious if you're trying to shift as many tickets as possible?

If anyone really thinks we'll get 5000 transactions done before the cup tie they're deluded.

We should start from the premise of making it as easy as possible for people to buy tickets. We don't. The ''marketing and events'' role is reliably pathetic in its lack of effort, imagination and proactivity.

The ticket office was open after the game on Saturday.

I'm going to get slaughtered for this but hey ho here we go - I would not have batted an eyelid if Lorne street as well as Hamil had been given over to Sunderland. I am a season ticket holder x 2 in Lorne Street and if Vale wanted to make money out of this tie I would agree to allowing as many Black Cats in as possible. My gut tells me we will stuggle to have many more than perhaps 5 or 6,000 Vale fans as apathy reigns at Vale. In that case we could have surely sold out Hamil and Lorne Street to Sunderland and housed easily those that wanted to support Vale elsewhere, and made good money.

**** the black cats,we should be doing everything possible as a club to get those missing Vale fans into the park.By even suggesting we give over home parts of the ground to a has-been club itself shows apathy on your part.

A year ago I went to the Morecambe fixture and the club had put posters in shops around the town advertising the fixture.

This cup tie is 10 times the size of that game. so what are we visibly doing to, as the Unofficial Vale twitter site puts it ''pack the park''?

Absolutely nothing.

But they didn’t tell anyone it would be open.

By the sound of it, it would be difficult to tell anyone in the ground as apparently the PA system doesn’t work in the Railway (#267) and it definitely can’t be understood in the Bycars. Surely the club have a duty under H&S Regulations to ensure that any safety announcements can both be heard and understood.

Agree with what you are saying, I was a Bycars regular up until this season,( my kids upgraded my st to the Vice Presidents as a 60th b,day present) and the PA system hasn’t worked for a couple of seasons, which imo, contravenes the grounds safety certificate, worrying when the clubs main sponsor specialises in this kind of thing.

But nothing was said on the scoreboard or the programme about the ticket office being open after the game.

It seems quite a few people knew Conrad.

How hard would it have been to make a clear announcement, audible to everyone, that cup tie tickets were on sale? How much imagination did it need to put posters up about the Sunderland game?

The club will reap what they sow in terms of attendance for the Sunderland game. It's simply not good enough to assume people will come anyway. Our support is dropping off already and it's only October.

There's some serious wake ups needed.

Problem is, as you eloquently continue to put it , nowt will be or is being done to attempt any ways of getting bums on seats at Vale. We still live in the dark ages as far as customer relationships are concerned.

That was a great success as 1241 in total attended, less than 1000 home fans.

If we start putting up posters around the town we will just look more tinpot than we already are and I doubt it would make any difference to the gate.

There is plenty of opportunity to get tickets for those that can be bothered including on your phone. I suspect that not many casual observers will be going as they will watch it on the telly.

I feel that for the casual fan/observer, the need to organise a ticket up front or be penalised on the day is unfair. There may well be people who just fancy this game but don't want the hassle of going to the ground to get one, nor wait on the phone to order one.

Basically l don't think you should pay more on the day!

Go online then.....
