Paying more on the day has always been a concept I understand, but never been one I agree with, as in my mind it completely disincentivises the casual or spontaneous supporter.

What I would agree with and support, is mini ticket offers, be it for three, six or ten games, where you could choose what games you go to. With the ground normally 25/30% full it's not as though the logistics would be hard to arrange, but as a commercial decision, I just don't like ticket discounts, the only exception I suppose, would be if it allows children to get in for nothing, which of course is a discount of sorts, but the one that totally encourages the fans of tomorrow to get involved, that I am all for

They have been doing just that with ten game tickets for three years!

I feel that for the casual fan/observer, the need to organise a ticket up front or be penalised on the day is unfair. There may well be people who just fancy this game but don't want the hassle of going to the ground to get one, nor wait on the phone to order one.

Basically l don't think you should pay more on the day!

Fair enough, but it happens at most grounds these days. There are two home games before the Sunderland one, so no excuse for any regular fans having to make a separate trip to get a ticket. You can do it over the phone as well. Even on the day the price is a fiver cheaper than league games, so if a £2 increase puts people off then they don't really want to come anyway.

As the gate money is split between the 2 clubs, Sunderland do stand to lose out.

Christ Conrad mate, what a plonker. I was treating it as a league match, so we suffered reduced gate receipts/attendance but Sunderland got the same BT payout. Of courses the gate receipts are split equally. Used to be 45% after expenses and VAT taken out. Be very interesting to see the crowd for what i consider our most attractive match of the season.

I was a bit surprised the prices have been reduced for this one.

Sunderland are by far the biggest club we could have drawn at this stage of the competition, and even with our usual home support at normal prices, there would have been 8500 there.

I suspect(like me) alot of vale fans don't rate them highly,so a reduced admission would hopefully bring out extra vale fans to give as good as we get.
