2018 FA Cup - 1st Round - Sunderland at Vale Park

What an absolutely bizarre viewpoint. By that logic if any lower league team draws a bigger club then they shouldn't hope for a big crowd and the chance of an upset.

Don't go into motivational speaking whatever you do.

History suggests there’s no guarantees of a heavy loss here. We beat enough L1 sides in cup games and Championship sides during the past.

The Sunderland fans on their forum seem to think they won't sell out for this game.

Hardly surprising really, not many clubs are able to bring 4,000+ away fans these days?

Sunderland's trip to Plymouth yesterday was

sold out, meaning the Black Cats have sold their full allocation for every away game this season. Full marks to the 1,200 fans who made the 800+ mile round trip to Home Park and help their team to their sixth successive win.

Past results are no guide to future performance. We had better players and a better atmosphere in the past.

Last seasons team beat Oxford and was far worse...

Arguably at around the level of Adams first season in charge when we dumped two Championship sides out the cup and took another to ET.

So we're on course to have less fans there than Sunderland.

Anyone still think this is all OK, and we shouldn't be doing more to stimulate interest?

I am not sure what you are expecting? All Vale fans know the game is on, they all know the day and the time and they all know you need a ticket from the ticket office. The prices are reduced from league prices. If fans want to go they will go.

Getting more people there to see us lose won't benefit anyone though. I just hope we don't get too many injuries to key players and the heavy defeat doesn't derail our league campaign.
What better test of the players? Can they play before a large away following? Can they raise their game? Can they play against a reasonable football team instead of some of the L2 dross? No cause for concern that we cant compete with a team funded by grotesque parachute payments.

Attended the North Staffs and South Cheshire Cricket Presentation Awards on Friday evening. Raffle prizes included tickets for that other team in the Potteries. It was the announced from the stage that they had been unable to contact Port Vale so no tickets. These were paid for by the NS & SC League. So another own goal by our wonderful ticket office. We really are a joke. Little wonder gates are so low.Sometimes it is embarrassing being a Valeite.

I know Stoke fans who are going to the game. The only concern myself and 4 mates have is which pub to go before the match.10,000+ crowd is my call, mybycars.
